Network/Data Analyst

At least 5-10 years of progressive business
and/or technical experience is required to reach
this level. Consultant is very knowledgeable,
with a wide range of experience in various sizes
and types of projects that are relevant to the
role. Provides leadership support for large,
complex projects or applications, adhering to
strict timelines and deliverables. Assumes lead
role in the design and delivery of total
solutions involving multiple systems for large
organizations. Acts as mentor to other
consultants.

Position Description:

The candidate must be able to analyze protocol
(for example, tcp/ip) data dumps captured via
data sniffer. Using a protocol analyzer the
candidate must be able to compare two similar
data dumps and identify any anomilities in the
data in the protocol stack.

Some or all exposure required.

Fair exposure to Communications Processes and Protocols as used in End-to-end networking e.g TCP/IP, PPP, DHCP, HTTP principles, CHAP/Radius authentication protocols.
Exposure to IP Networking with consideration to: IP addressing: Voice, Video, Data encapsulation to IP; bandwidth; routing; switching.(Essential)

Exposure to Computer Communications from a Data Communications Stand point. (Exchange of protocol data and payload data between communicating systems transiting various network architecture). (Essential)

Exposure to basic line formats, encapsulation and Transmission principles as used in interconnectivity of exchanges e.g. WAN circuits, Trunk transmission facilities (T1, OC-3,OC-12 e.t.c ) or Transport facility equipment with regards to integrity of payload data bytes (Voice, Video or Data traffic).

Live exposure to Carrier IP network equipment and subscriber network equipment providing End-to-end communications between customer premise equipment/Subscriber equipment e.g. wire line DSL or Cable Modem or Wireless mobile devices.(Wireless preferred but not essential).

Strong understanding of: Client & Server; Controller & Device; Master & Slave computing relationships. (Essential)

Exposure to VoIP protocols such as SIP/RTP/RTCP preferred but not essential.

Basic/functional UNIX file system and operations skills.

Exposure to any protocol analyzers.

Previous exposure to telecommunications testing equipment e.g. Bit Error Rate test equipment.

Documentation and presentation skills. Ability to prepare network drawings and data spreadsheets-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio e.t.c (Essential)

Effective oral and written communications skills. (Essential)

Ability to utilize check and eliminate methodology in troubleshooting network problems. Resourcefulness in researching issues. (Essential)

Ability to correlate end-to-end networking principles to resolving issues that may be mitigating against byte integrity in Voice, Video or Data communications issues.(Network elements-Firewalls, Network element processing power,number of equipment in data path and their functions and how they could affect payload transiting e.t.c
