Our CHICAGO BASED Financial Services client currently seeks a mid-level Network Project Manager for a 6 month "CONTRACT-TO-HIRE" opportunity.

Job Description:

Provides project consulting and advanced project coordination for all Network Services and Technology and Solutions assigned initiatives. Identifies resources and works with team members to develop project plans and task schedules for all assigned project activities. Functions as the primary Network Services client contact and as the Network Services team lead. Will interact with management, clients, line of business analysts, contractors, internal staff, information security and project managers for all assigned projects and will coordinate and support the efforts of several initiatives concurrently.

Skills Required:

- 5-7 years of demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of project consulting, project management, and network communications;
- strong network technology and operations background, have excellent analytical skills and be very detail oriented;
- should be highly customer focused, versed in industry practices, and possess a broad understanding of an internal bank organization;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- ability to work independently, be able to effectively direct or influence others, and ensure significant project issues and challenges are resolved in a timely manner;
- Must be willing to incorporate Client's project methodologies and have basic understanding of office productivity software including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Lotus Notes, and the Remedy AR System.
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to lead multiple projects as a team leader and team member;
- Excellent client and management communication skills required;
- The ability to track project progress and communicate completed tasks on a weekly and monthly basis is required.

Experience: This is a Junior to medium level PM role.

Skills needed:

5-7 years of experience. Heavy PM experience not necessary. Someone who transitioned from being a network installer to a PM.

Requires understanding the technology on a high-level and being focused PM.

Need to have technical expertise. Network services background - some background in data and Telco experience.

Data vs. Voice - data side is more important. Cisco is preferred.

This is a Cisco and Nortel environment and requires an understanding of WAN/LAN technology (high level.

From Telco Nortel side, need to be able to interface with vendors such as AT&T and Verizon, manage their processes appropriately, PBXs and Centrex services from the Telco side (voice side).

Need to understand how routers and switches work and how they can be put together; and will manage an AT&T partner.


Microsoft Project and Office is the key.

Remedy and Lotus Notes would be desired. Visio exp is a plus.

Team:

Small group - network design person and installation staff. Small groups with network services fteam involved.

Personality:

Extraverted, when they can communicate with other individuals very well. Not afraid of challenge people when they think something is not right.

Have to work night and weekends sometimes. More admin role. Will be handling the conference bridge, check points, status points, but not going to go out to configure routers, plugging in switches etc.
