Business Delivery Lead – Finance & Actuarial Applications

Business Delivery Lead F&A reports to the Senior Vice President of Solutions Delivery.

JOB SUMMARY

Business Delivery Leadwill have end-to-end responsibility for all portfolio work for a business segment being managed in the release and maintenance channels.This will include the client engagement, release management, solutions, design, development, unit testing, and application ownership responsibilities.The Business Delivery Lead and his or her team will work directly with the business, ensuring business priorities are understood and addressed.The Business Delivery Team Lead will ensure alignment with the business, be responsible for cost and speed of delivery.Responsibly for all aspects of application ownership for applications within the portfolio.

Specifically, they will be responsible for managing 2 portfolios and 120 applications in the Finance and Actuarial organizations. This team will support key applications like Merlin, Business Objects, PeopleSoft Financials, PES,Maximis, Twinkle and Accounting Center.The team will consist of 40-60 resources.

Strategically, the Business Delivery Lead F&A is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong consultative relationships Finance & Actuarial business leaders to understand business needs and ensure application solutions meet business goals while adhering to CNA’s IT governance/policies.

From a practice management point of view the Business Delivery Lead F&A will analyses and report on delivery progress vs performance goals consequently recommending and instituting enterprise level adoption of new technologies and delivery methodologies.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with Finance and Actuarial customers to develop an application portfolio strategy that meets and exceeds he strategic and operational goal of the business



Oversees the tactical creation of quality software to meet business needs.Includes design, coding, testing, deployment and project/program management



Sets objectives, drives organizational design, tracks performance and facilitates communication internally to development organization and externally to the business



Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.Mentors, coaches, and manages team performance by establishing specific goals and objectivesSupport the successful integration of CNA’s Resource Management program.



Participates in execution of IT strategy and objectives.Drives initiatives and programs throughout the IT development organization



Performs cross-functional assessments and leads process improvements in the software delivery process



Manage vendor relationships for products and services for the IT function.Includes allocation of IT resources.



Member of the IT extended leadership team which is accountable for the results of the application/solution devilry

o Direct accountability for operating budget
o Refinement of metrics and dashboard reporting to track overall program success
o Identify, prioritize and drive operational improvements to enable the Solutions Delivery and other area within IT to successfully achieve their measures of success (i.e. financial/budget; delivering business value solutions; delivering on commitments; meeting business expectations; meeting service level agreements and employee environment


Identifies positive and negative trends within initiatives via scorecard analysis to ensure that implementation is successful

o On ongoing refinement of delivery operations, including process modifications; communicates changes and success to leadership


Drives and evangelizes change management associated with new solutions delivery model

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The Business Delivery Lead F&A will be a “hands-on” leader/driver with a strong background dealing with complex enterprise wide application development and solutions delivery issues across; the technical and non technical realms (relationship management, influence, consulting and practice management).

Candidate must have verified success working in a matrix environment capable of functioning and adding value as a key member of an IT leadership team.Tacitly candidate must have high quality team building, leadership skills and an executive presence demonstrating a result orientation, ability to overcome challenges, while connecting with people and making a favorable impression.

Ideal candidate will have ten or more years of leadership experience in progressive roles focused on application development and delivery within the insurance, financial service or professional services verticals.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE PROFILE


Though each of the following items is not a requirement, a compelling combination of the following is a must


Prior experience delivering application that support Finance and Actuarial operations.


Prior success leading an application delivery/development group of similar size and scope Staff of 50+


Fundament understanding of the insurance vertical, ideally the Commercial Property and Casualty segment.


Mastery of applications software and systems development methodologies and frame works. Demonstrated mental ability and maturity to understand and resolve via high quality communications external and internal customer issues in a professional manner.


Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work with


o Change management and project management frame works
o Emerging technologies
o Financial data, corporate scorecards and key performance indicators to measure and improve delivery performance
EDUCATION
· Minimum Bachelors Degree, Advanced degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline Value added certifications
