A Security Services Specialist is a tactically focused, detailed IT security professional empowered to execute on Company's IT strategies for the Security of its infrastructure and systems, providing oversight for security functions with Company's outsourced security solutions, and hands-on security and incident management for Company's internally maintained systems. These individuals have proactive operational responsibility for incident intrusion prevention and detection, investigation of information technology security incidents and reporting on findings. They not only ensure the protection of Company systems, but also collect, collate and present the evidence necessary to demonstrate to other functions the compliance with security best practices and regulations. This includes internal and external audit, law enforcement, HR, PCI, S-OS, international Data Privacy agencies, etc. In addition to the preventative efforts detailed previously, all new and changed systems will be analyzed by the security specialist for design and implementation integrity. Further, in order to protect Company networks, the security specialist will work to implement network access controls to prevent access by malevolent parties. This will ensure that security exposures are not introduced within the Company environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manage secure communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, wireless networks, company Web sites, intranet, and Internet applications.
2. Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases and secure data transfer.
3. Deploy and maintain firewalls, VPN, 2-Factor Token, cryptography systems, and all host security activities.
4. Manage the implementation and operation of compliance related programs including PCI, S-OX, and Data Privacy.
5. Assist with the diagnosis and resolution of LAN/WAN problems.
6. Provide on-call technical support.
7. Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required following Change Management procedures.
8. Ensure connectivity of all connected devices.
9. Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security systems.
10. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
11. Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights to network security systems.
12. Perform network and security audits.
13. Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases for the security infrastructure.
14. Participate in planning, designing, installing and configuring local and wide area networks. Leads in the engineering and provisioning of secure LAN/WAN services to Company's Franchise operations and its partner sites.
15. Ensure LAN/WAN environment is secure and appropriate recovery and redundancy issues are addressed.
16. Review and study selected vendor LAN/WAN security software and hardware products to determine those that meet Global Company's needs.
17. Provides technical guidance to Service and Support staff, Application Development staff or less experienced network engineers.

4. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.

7. Ability to handle extreme work loads.
8. Ability to analyze complex production control problems and select corrective action.

Management Responsibilities:
1. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
2. Establish service level agreements with end users.
3. Manage and/or provide guidance to outsourced vendors, junior members of the team, or other third party contractors involved with the management or provisioning of network resources.

Education:
1. College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
2. Certifications in Cisco, Security, and Networking technologies.
3. CISSP Certification is a plus.
4. ITIL Foundations is a plus.


Experience and Background:
1. Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows/2000, Windows/2003, Windows/XP, Windows/Vista, HP/UX, Linux, AIX.
2. Working technical knowledge of networking solutions and associated operating environments including Cisco, ISS Proventia, Checkpoint, HP
3. Application support experience with McAfee, Computer Associates, BMC Marimba, Microsoft Office, and Lotus Domino/Notes.
4. Advanced working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WINS, and Active Directory.
5. Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
6. Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
7. Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
8. Knowledge of applicable PCI, SOX, and data privacy practices and laws.
9. Ability to conduct research into software or hardware issues and products as required.
10. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
