Senior Vice President of Application Development/Solutions Delivery The Senior Vice President of Application Development/Solutions Delivery reports to the Chief Information Officer and is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal customer business leaders (standard lines, global specialty lines, actuarial/finance, claims, worldwide operations, corporate services and human resources) to understand their business needs, and ensure service delivery requirements are met and in line with enterprise strategies. Senior Vice President of Application Development/Solutions Delivery will lead a team of five direct reports. The new executive also will have accountability for an $80 million budget. The Senior Vice President of Application Development/Solutions Delivery will be a visionary leader with a strong background dealing with complex, enterprise-wide application development and solutions delivery issues across technical and non-technical realms in a managed services environment. Additionally, candidates must have demonstrated success working in a matrix setting capable of functioning and adding value as a key member of the IT leadership team. The candidate must have high-quality leadership skills and a demonstrated executive presence that will allow him/her to function successfully at the highest levels within CNA. Major Responsibilities Drive operational improvements within a managed services framework to enable the applications development and solutions delivery team to successfully achieve their measures of success (i.e., financial and budget; delivering business value solutions; delivering on commitments; meeting business expectations; meeting service level agreements, etc.) Be an active member of the leadership team, working to optimize the utilization of IT investments in the most efficient and effective manner. Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop application strategy as well as specific customer strategies for applications, based on line-of-business needs, and enterprise-best practices and strategies. Inspire and motivate an IT organization that is flexible, cost effective and responsive to the needs of the business Develop successors within the IT organization and ensure that the human capital capabilities of the IT organization keep pace with the growth of the company. Mentor, coach and manage team performance by establishing specific goals and objectives. Monitor, maintain and enforce service level agreements (SLA) to meet or exceed customer needs. Leverage metrics and dashboard reporting to track overall program success. Based on direction from the Operating Committee, prioritize IT projects and allocate resources based on the importance of the company’s business objectives. Ensure the execution of strategies and key projects. Foster and evangelize new enterprise solution and application delivery methodologies and strategies that support our future state operating model and is aligned with overall business goals. The SVP of Solutions Delivery will be a “hands-on” leader/driver with a strong background dealing with complex enterprise wide application development and solutions delivery issues across the technical and non technical realms (relationship management, consulting and practice management). Candidate must have a demonstrated success working in and establishing a managed services framework. Further, candidate must be capable of working within a matrix environment while, adding value as a key member on the IT Leadership team. Tacitly, candidate must have high quality leadership skills and a demonstrated executive presence. Ideal Experience A minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in complex, large-scale application development. Experience in the insurance industry, financial services industry or professional services is highly desired. Direct experience successfully establishing and working within a managed services environment. Led or participated in initiatives that translated a strategic vision and business strategy into tangible IT plans and deliverables. Experience initiating and leading the development and implementation of high-profile projects and change programs. Demonstrated understanding and utilization of financial data, corporate scorecard information and key performance indicators to support process improvement performance. Able to work effectively across process, ensuring effective handoff procedures, practices and measurements. A bachelor’s degree is required (preferred in computer science, information technology, electrical engineering or related discipline), and a master’s degree is preferred.
