We are currently seeking to fill a Sr. UNIX Administrator position for our client in Chicago, IL. Overview: The successful candidate will be part of a team that administers the corporate UNIX infrastructure which consists of Solaris/AIX/HP-UX and LINUX servers in a 24x7 highly available data-center environment. The candidate will be handling multiple critical projects simultaneously in a fast paced and demanding environment. Weekend Implementations are part of the work duties as well as being part of a rotating 24x7 pager support team. This position requires strong knowledge of Veritas products families required-Foundation Suite, VCS, VVR-minimal levels of 4.x. Strong knowledge of LINUX (Red Hat/Suse) and HP-UX (11.x) is necessary as well. The candidate needs to work independently and have the requisite UNIX troubleshooting skills to solve technical issues on an on-going basis. Ability to create new server builds and troubleshoot server issues is critical. Qualifications: - 8+ years experience with Solaris (through version 10 preferred), and in-depth Veritas skills sets- Foundation Manager (ver 4.x), VVR (4.x, VCS (4.x). - Experience with LINUX (Red Hat AS/ES 4.x and SUSE SLES9). - Understanding of kickstarting LINUX servers is essential. - Understanding and working in a PH-UX cluster environment is necessary. - Excellent project management and communications skills are essential. - Strong day-to-day experience in UNIX skill sets of NFS/NIS/DNS required. - Proficiency in Perl and shell scripting is essential. - Network troubleshooting skills are plus. - Additional proficiency in AIX (5.x) and IBM Websphere (5.0) are pluses. - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related preferred; Master's degree advantageous.
