POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for Grant Thornton's firm-wide systems and data centers, reviews technology project requests, and coordinates schedules and related IT Department priorities. The Manager will grow the Grant Thornton IT organization to efficiently operate our systems across multiple locations by deploying consistent practices and infrastructure. The Manager works with the Director of IT Operations and other directors as needed to develop and implement both location-specific and location-independent applications, processes, and procedures in support of Grant Thornton business operations. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Coordinate, oversee and complete all aspects of projects, including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of projects.

-Prepare reports for the Director of IT Operations regarding status of projects.

-Ensure effective coordination and technical support across departments and systems areas.

-Delegate project assignments to department members to meet organizational goals.

-Provide direction and guidance for the analysis and evaluation of current or proposed technology-related solutions that address business problems.

-Confer with and advise managers on technical issues, methods, policies and procedures.

-Implement methods to maximize department efficiency.

-Drive complex, system related projects to meet business goals and solve business problems with technology.

-Demonstrate leadership by focusing the IT Team on key activities that have a significant impact on the firm.

-Work effectively with other organizational leaders to meet firm goals.

-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.

-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.

-Perform other job-related duties as necessary, sometimes on short notice.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor's degree in an IT discipline, such as Computer Science or MIS or at least four years of experience in a professional IT-related role.

-At least 10-12 years of related work experience in IT, including six or more years successfully managing an IT area.

-Knowledge of MS Windows ( all variants of server and client ); MS Clustering; SAN; Exchange; Active Directory; SMS; Citrix, Colo and DR services, LAN and WAN.

-Experience managing a technical team is required.

-Must have strong leadership and management skills with experience leading, directing, developing and overseeing the work of others.

-Project management experience in a fast-changing environment is required.

-Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures

-Working familiarity with technologies in use at Grant Thornton a plus.

-Ability to partner with business managers and work with them in their business contexts.

-Proven ability to develop and implement effective IT strategies, business plans, and policies for the functional area.

-Must have the demonstrated ability to manage and influence others to achieve desired results and work with other organizational leaders to meet firm goals.

-Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, including business leaders and executives.

-Strong customer relationship and management skills as used in consulting engagements.

-Ability to work additional hours as needed.
