POSITION SUMMARY



The Web Developer is a member of the Web Services team in the Information Technology ( IT ) department. This position analyzes, develops, supports, and provides training on firm internet and intranet technologies. Key components of this position are technical analysis skills, programming Java, supporting content management systems (Vignette), positive customer service skills, and facilitating effective combinations of business needs and web technologies. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintain production and development of internet / intranet environments for content authors, editors, publishers, and users.

-Train on the use of internet / intranet technologies and tools which support business information publishing needs.

-Perform system administration of content management systems and related technologies (content management software, web server, etc.).

-Provide technical support on assigned internet / intranet technologies and tools and coordinate support needs with other divisions within the IT department.

-Develop effective web technologies and tools that support business information publishing needs.

-Provide excellent customer service to all internet and intranet users (authors, editors, publishers, management, and end users).

-Use web technologies and tools in the publishing of firm internet and intranet websites on a daily basis.

-Provide content publishing assistance in the application of best practices of knowledge management and internet / intranet use.

-Perform exception reporting of issues, problems, and customer needs as they occur to IT management.

-Provide proactive response to identified training, technical support, and customer service needs in line with IT management and business guidelines.

-Coordinate identified user technical needs with others in immediate team or division and throughout the IT department.

-Adhere to highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.

-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.

-Participate in special projects as assigned by management.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field

-1 to 3 years of experience with the following technologies: HTML, Java ( J2EE applications, not Swing ), JavaScript, Active Server Pages, Microsoft Internet Information Server ( IIS ), Apache Tomcat, Microsoft SQL Server, Java Server Pages and other internet technologies in the production and publishing of internet and / or intranet websites.

-Previous experience in the professional services or accounting industry a plus.

-Experience with Vignette Content Management system ( or competitive product ).

-Previous experience in the application of knowledge management best practices in the publishing of information systems content a plus.

-Ability to work with minimal supervision.

-Excellent written and oral communications skills.

-Strong training and presentation skills in individual and group settings.

-Proven ability to effectively multitask with strong attention to detail.

-Ability to integrate procedural steps and processes with technical requirements and system functions to ensure successful delivery of work.

-Team oriented, flexible, and able to work in a changing work environment.

-100% in-office work arrangement required; pager required. Infrequent overtime required ( evenings / weekends ).

-Reports directly to Website Technology Manager
