POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Web Developer within the Grant Thornton International ( GTI ) Information Technology ( IT ) Web Applications team is responsible for developing and supporting internet and intranet applications.

This person is responsible for assigned internet / intranet programming work, occasional project management responsibilities, assigned user and management communications, briefings and presentations, and supervision of associate rank developers as identified by the GTI Technology Manager.

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter with experience communicating issues on both social and technical levels to clients, who are members of the Grant Thornton International community. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES
-Develop new web-based applications as identified by firm and IT management.
-Customize packaged web applications to meet business needs.
-Maintain and enhance existing web-based applications (custom and purchased) as identified by firm and IT management.
-Maintain production and development web programming environments in conjunction with Grant Thornton engineering and database administration teams.
-Test and perform complete quality assurance evaluation on all GTI-based intranet and intranet applications (custom and purchased).
-Provide training and support on all intranet and intranet applications as identified by IT management.
-Provide mentoring and professional guidance to members of web applications teams as assigned by the Technology Manager.
-Complete life-cycle development documentation for all projects.
-Provide daily supervision of assigned projects and project developers’ work.
-Create Microsoft-centric ( ASP, ASPX, .NET ) using organized systems development methodology.
-Provide programming team technical and functional team leadership and technical direction.
-Develop and interact with databases as part of built or bought intranet and intranet systems using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
-Perform exception reporting of issues, problems, and customer needs as they occur in IT management.
-Provide effective communications and coordination of user needs with IT management.
-Maintain awareness of fiscal impact of technical operations and / or functions.
-Adhere to highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
-Participate in special projects as assigned by management.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
-6 to10 years of experience in a medium- to large-sized corporate environment with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity of projects and applications.
-Previous experience in the professional services / accounting industry a plus.
-Previous client service or consultative experiences in the intranet / intranet industry a plus.
-Previous customer service experiences in the software industry a plus.
-Previous experience with international issues as related to soft skills a plus.
-Previous experience building web services built using Visual Studio 2005.
-Previous experience with SharePoint 2003 or 2007 is a plus.
-Thorough understanding of systems development methodology best practices.
-Experience with HTML, DHTML, CSS, ActiveX controls, Java, JavaScript, ASP, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, IIS Configuration, and other web-based technologies in the production and publishing of intranet and / or intranet websites.
-Experience in development web applications using Visual Studio 2005.
-Experience with creating and interacting with SQL database systems.
-A good understanding of AJAX.
Ability to integrate procedural steps and processes with technical requirements and system functions to assure successful delivery of work.
-Training and presentation skills in individual and group settings.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
-Project management skills including planning, WBS, requirements gathering, and project team coordination.
-Team-oriented, flexible, and able to work in an ambiguous and / or changing work environment.
Reports directly to GTI Technology Manager.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed. 100% in-office work arrangement required; pager required. Infrequent overtime required (evenings / weekends).
