Job Summary Individual contributor plans and manages complex IT projects consisting of one or more project teams. Manages relationships and acts as liaison between the development teams, client organizations, and other stakeholders throughout the project cycle. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Manages and directs one or more project teams to meet complex project objectives. 2. Coordinates, schedules, assign project tasks, builds teams, and maintains working relationships with the functional areas outside of IT. 3. Reviews, evaluates and formulates project plans, schedules and budgets. Typical project budget: $15-50 million 4. Allocates staff and budget resources to meet changing corporate needs. 5. Identifies and negotiates schedules, milestones and resources required to meet project objectives. 6. Evaluates and reports progress in terms of quality and performance metrics. Modifies schedules as required. 7. Works with client departments to coordinate systems testing, installation, training and support. 8. Uses appropriate systems development methodologies to structure and organize the tasks to be completed by the team. 9. Provides input on performance of team members and may provide feedback. 10. Stays up to date on trends and developments within functional area of expertise and the insurance industry. Effective Project Delivery via Embracing Technology 1. Ensures all projects within program adhere to standard phase gate methodology 2. Adhere to standard PMO Processes and Tool Enablers to ensure transparent, consistent, effective delivery 3. Ensure accurate, high quality, standardized Resource Staffing Plans following the PMO Financial Management and Resource Management processes 4. Adhere to the standard PMO Risk Management Process to ensure the appropriate level of risk has been identified and is mitigated within the overall project plan 5. Ensure alignment with IT Compliance standards, including Internal Audit, Sox, and Business Framework Develop and Manage IT Talent 1. Ensure and Coach project team roles and responsibilities are understood and managed via the Matrix Manager Review Process 2. Ensure competency and objectives are managed via the Resource Management process 3. Administer project methodologytraining and ensure thatevery project team member have at least the basic level of CNA Business Framework Continually Provide Value for CNA 1. Continually Demonstrate, Incorporate, and Communicate Return On Investment (ROI) considerations for the project solution alternatives throughout the life of the project 2. Grow Organizational Change Management capabilities for the project team members 3. Increase Financial Management capabilities for PMO and project team members 4. Continually Demonstrate, Incorporate, and Communicate project parameter and delivery approach considerations for projects throughout the life of the project Continued Improvement 1. Conduct quarterly project team effectiveness surveys, maintaining a target of 75% team rating 2. Perform after Action Reviews at the end of each phase with best practices, lessons learned, and reusable deliverables being harvested to the Delivery Excellence organization Customer Focused and Expectation Management 1. Ensure proper project team success criteria are defined and satisfaction expectations are managed at least twice a year for 100% of Business Demand and Technology Investments Quality Management 1. Perform quality planning and quality assurance and control as defined in the project Quality Strategy and Plan 2. Monitor and Implement SDLC improvement to ensure Project rework (Cost of Failure) is within 13-23% of the overall project labor cost 3. Manage CPI, SPI, and COQ within PMO standards Reporting Relationship Director or above Skills, Knowledge & Abilities 1. Multiple experiences in lead role managing multiple complex programs with multiple projects from inception to user adoption with budgets ranging from $15-50 million. 2. 8+ years experience working at one of the Big 4 (Deliotte Consulting, CapGemini, Accenture, IBM) Management Consulting firms 3. Experience leading programs with multiple vendors in on shore and off shore delivery model to execute project deliverables 4. Knowledge of and experience of industry software lifecycle techniques such as: Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, Spiral, Enterprise Package Implementation, Business Intelligence, Custom Development, Integration 5. Moderate to Expert knowledge within a P&C Insurance operation 6. Exceptional ability to manage expectations with business partners, vendors, executive management and IT organization 7. Proficient competency of written and verbal communication, influencing, presentation, and listening skills in order to interact through executive leadership level 8. Proficient competency in team collaboration, teamwork, and project team development techniques 9. Proficient level of project management skills, such as: Project Planning, Project Monitoring and Control, Project Issue/Risk Management, Project Status Reporting, Resource Management, Financial Management; PMP Certification is preferred 10. Strong organizational, time management, root cause & problem solving, and follow up skills 11. Ability to be independent and complete work assignments with little oversight 12. Should be customer focused and oriented, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through professionalism and leadership Education & Experience 1.Master’s degree in Business and/or Information Technology or equivalent experience. 2. Minimum of 10 years of diverse experience in multiple areas of technology with at least four years in a project leadership. 3. PMP or other applicable certifications. Experience: 1.
