We have an immediate need for a NETWORK OPERATIONS SUPPORT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION Remotely Manage and proactively monitor IP networks consisting of Approx. 100 routers, Cable modem concentrators, 1200 switches, and 100+ Linux and Win2000 servers. Various SNMP monitoring tools used; Nagios, Intermapper, and What's Up Gold. Continually maintain the LAN / WAN infrastructure. Determine when network problems are occurring and troubleshoot, document and resolve network outages as they occur. Re-configure Routers (Cisco) and Switches (Cisco, HP, 3Com, etc.) as required. Dispatch field technicians to work problems that cannot be resolved remotely. Via telephone: walk field techs through troubleshooting such as moving cables, etc. as well as to reboot, replace, re-configure equipment as required to restore service. Configure and ship replacement hardware upon failure. Work with "Telcos/ISPs" to resolve T1-T3 WAN / Circuit problems. Work projects/"change management" from beginning to completion; "turn up" new sites, expand sites, upgrade/increase bandwidth / WAN Links as sites grow. Work with ISPs to assign /change IP Blocks on router interfaces as well as "turn up" new interfaces, etc. Document all network changes by updating databases, creating Visio Network Topology Maps, and create / distribute procedures. Work/resolve trouble tickets that cannot be resolved by Tier I. Work with equipment vendors on issues that could not easily be resolved by Tier II. Open, Update, and Close Tier II trouble tickets.
