Job Description:

The Systems Analyst is responsible for all phases of the systems development life cycle for moderate to complex information systems. This position will concentrate on business requirements and definition phases including feasibility, impact analysis and design. The Systems Analyst will focus on technology as it applies to information system solutions that meet business requirements. When appropriate, the Systems Analyst will direct activities of Programmer Analysts and Programmers.

Resonsibilities:

1. Applications Development: (1) Under general supervision develop and implement systems utilizing the systems development life cycle methodology. (a) investigate business requirements (b) develop and evaluate alternative designs prepare project scope and requirements (d) develop detailed programming specifications (e) code JCL and programs (f) evaluate and implement application package software (g) perform unit and system testing (h) set up production jobs (I) ensure user and technical documentation. (2) Estimate project resource requirements (3) Develop and revise work plans to monitor the activities of the project staff to ensure timely, cost-effective development. (4) Conduct formal reviews with the project team to ensure project objectives are met. (5) Ensure that the application is installed according to the stated business and technical requirements. (6) Monitor and report project progress.

2. Applications Architecture Design & Planning (1) Develop an understanding of the companys business practices and its data/systems and incorporate that knowledge into the design and enhancement of information systems. (2) Develop functional requirements and technical designs that enhance the structure and integration of information systems. (3) Integrate external data with existing internal information systems as needed. (4) Participate in the technical evaluation of new software products by analyzing, testing and documenting capabilities in relation to functional and technical requirements

3. Maintenance & Support of Existing Systems: (1) Assure integrity and continuity of data and information systems, including application package software. (2) Coordinate with Data Center staff to develop, schedule and maintain production jobs. (3) Provide 24 hour on-call support or production systems. (4) Assist junior staff.

4. User Support: (1) Perform as a key user liaison to assess business needs and to develop appropriate solutions; conduct interviews, meetings and reviews to this end. (2) Provide ongoing user support and ad hoc request. (3) Participate in training of junior staff in user support skills and knowledge (4) Field, evaluate and respond to user requests for system enhancements (5) Provide user training.

5. Administration: (1) Review and approve the work of Programmer Analysts and Programmers on the team to ensure information system quality and integrity. (2) Advise as to training for Programmer Analysts and Analysts. (3) Assist users with preparation of project requests and appropriations. (4) Recommend resources and assignments that develop staff members (5) Contribute to the development and enforcement of department policies, procedures and standards.


Experience: . Experience and Education Requirements:


The ideal candidate will possess strong oral/written communication skills; BS degree (Computer Science or related area strongly preferred); at least 3 years in the IT field; analytical skills that can address both business and technical issues. Able to plan/prioritize work of others Experience in an AS400 environment. Consumer products experience and manufacturing industry is a plus.
