POSITON SUMMARY The Project Management Lead ensures that the discipline of project management and control is properly entrenched in the company's culture during project engagements. This individual provides training and mentoring for all involved in such engagements thereby promoting the discipline throughout the organization. The Lead oversees Project Managers during delivery efforts and reports the status to the Director, Project Management Office for these engagements. This position is three days a week and is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Manage, review, mentor, support and provide quality assurance to Project Managers throughout the full lifecycle of a project engagement. -Set-up a project team ( in particular the Project Manager ) for a successful engagement through risk assessment, estimation and role identification skills. -Assess the performance of the Project Manager objectively, as well as Grant Thornton overall, on any engagement to document or facilitate the appropriate reviews and process improvements. -Focus heavily on developing, educating, and improving processes that support the discipline of project management. -Assist in developing and maintaining project management standards, methods and techniques to consistently improve the company's project management capabilities. -Assist in improving the firm's project engagement approach and infrastructure through formal process development and improvement procedures to internal IT and business personnel. -Assist with identifying and mitigating risks facing project engagements. -Ensure adherence to Grant Thornton project procedures. -Conduct quality assurance reviews of all project management and key project milestone deliverables. -Assist the business and Relationship Managers during the business justification and prioritization cycle. -Conduct timely status meetings with business sponsors and Senior IT Leadership. -Provide informative progress reports to appropriate management levels. -Prepare and maintain project status and budget tracking reports. -Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion. -Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. -Perform other job-related duties as necessary. Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related area. -15+ years experience in estimating, staffing, managing, controlling, administering, budgeting and executing project efforts -Experience with methodologies and a structured approach to project management -Ability to manage, review, mentor and support Project Managers. -Strong organizational skills -Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. -Strong leadership and motivational skills -Strong understanding of organizational structures, procedures and policies -Ability to effectively interact with Senior IT Leadership and GT business units -Ability to develop appropriate processes that fit within the GT culture -Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently. -Expertise in MS Office, MS Project, and Visio.
