TITLE: Vice President, Technology - Chicago, IL

LOCATION: IL - Chicago

JOB TYPE: Permanent

SALARY: $110,000 to $160,000 per year

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Must have current experience in running a 24x7 Internet Company's
technology operations.
- 5-7+ years experience in IT roles involving the development, support
and/or maintenance of applications and systems, including quality control
and assurance, and the planning and leading of complex IT projects.
- Must demonstrate experience with integrating or syndicating content
with channel partners
- Must demonstrate experience in Web 2.0 / dynamic/interactive
community applications and tools.
- Must demonstrate experience in data analysis, data modeling and
architecture.
- Must demonstrate experience in creating and maintaining network and
pc security, and has worked with remote hosting sites, and all related
remote access network tools and applications.
- Must demonstrate experience in business continuity planning

Advanced to expert level knowledge of:

o Java Software Development
o Enterprise Linux platforms (Red Hat preferred)
o Oracle 10g Enterprise (eBusiness Application Suite a plus)
o Apache Open Source projects (HTTP Server, Jakarta Tomcat, etc)


- Minimum two years direct supervisory experience of application
developers.
- Ability to translate business problems into technical solutions,
possession of strong analytical and communications skills, aptitude in
people and project management and negotiation
skills, and knowledge of finance and budget processes.
- BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field


DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Vice President, Technology management professional to lead
the Company's information systems and technology operations. This position
functions as a key member of the executive leadership team, and works
collaboratively with other leadership team members to support the Company's
mission, strategic development plan, objectives, and operational policies
in driving increased and sustained revenues.

The Vice President, Technology directly leads and supervises the Company's
technology team, including development and administrator staff, in design,
implementation and integration (as required) of all development and systems
administration activities, programs, and initiatives. Position will report
to the Sr. Vice President of Operations and is responsible for successful
execution of all advances, optimizations, and integrated solutions with the
Company's technology platform, and public / private websites, and the
development of new custom applications. Successful candidates will meet
all stated qualifications, but in addition will be passionate about
information technology in all its aspects, and a follower of new and
innovative products and services.

Responsibilities:

- Represent IS/IT operations, team, and objectives/goals/results to
Company's CEO, Board of Directors, strategic partners, vendors, and
clients. Conducts presentations and/or training on new
tools/functions/optimizations, is adept at public speaking, and presents a
polished, professional and articulate demeanor.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and
communications channels with internal business groups and staff, external
consulting or service provider firms, vendors and strategic partners.
- Proactively stays informed of all IS/IT new and innovative products
and services, including applications, tools, devices, and other
cutting-edge advancements in technology; recommends integration or
adaptation into current environment and infrastructure and directs team in
follow-through requirements for attainment of goals.
- Plans and leads on-time delivery of project deliverables from
requirements definition to deployment/installation and support.
- Oversees all aspects of the development process, including
pre-production testing, quality assurance protocols, documentation and
reporting, and post production training, communications, and maintenance
procedures.
- Lead, coach and develop the Applications Development and Systems
Administration team members.
- Provides technical leadership and hands-on technical guidance to
supply solutions that address existing and new business issues, or that
improve Application Development quality and productivity, and network
usability and security.
- Proactively addresses and ensures information security issues and
uses familiarity with compliance issues and federal/state regulations to
implement security initiatives and programs.
