POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager of the Tax Technology Group plans, prioritizes, and coordinates all National Tax technology initiatives and projects. The Manager is the primary liaison between the Tax practice and the Information Technology ( IT ) department, and also represents tax in all cross-business unit technology efforts. The position reports directly to the Director of Application Development and Management. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Serve as the advocate and primary point of contact for the technology needs of Tax.
-Define the business technology strategy for all Tax service lines.
-Create competitive advantage through the use of technology
-Collaborate with the Managing Partner of Tax Services and Tax service line leaders to determine how technology can best be used to promote growth, efficiency and effectiveness
-Determine and communicate the priorities and needs for Tax to the IT organization.
-Participate in creating the annual Tax technology budget.
-Facilitate the prioritization of Tax technology projects.
-Collaborate with IT to determine Tax technology project costs.
-Monitor Tax technology service line actual costs for variance to budget.
-Manage and coordinate strategic technology projects.
-Meet regularly with IT to determine Tax technology project status.
-Identify and coordinate availability of necessary tax professionals in support of key technology projects ( e.g., business requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, etc. ).
-Assist IT in the proper definition and delivery of key technology training and communications
-Meet periodically with third party tax vendors to understand their current state and future roadmap.
-Facilitate negotiation of third party, tax service line contracts ( e.g., Thomson ).
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in MIS, Business Management, Finance, Computer Science or related field of study required. Advanced degree and / or professional certification preferred.
-8-10 years overall professional experience.
-5 years minimum in Tax Technology or related experience.
-Tax industry knowledge and technology experience required.
-Professional Services Technology and Tax experience preferred.
-Program and project management experience desired.
-Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
-Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills.
-Self-directed, team-oriented individual.
-Must be able to deliver in an environment of competing priorities and changing project scope.
-Ability to work additional hours as necessary. Pager coverage expected. Some weekend or holiday work required.
