Responsibilities include researching, analyzing, designing and proposing requirements-based solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology needs. Maintains knowledge of emerging technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to design innovative IT solutions that support and drive business decisions. Interfaces across business areas to proactively assist in defining and communicating project direction. Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling of such solutions. Maintains a strong understanding of the enterprise's IT systems and architectures. Assists in the definition and analysis of requirements for the enterprise and applying emerging technologies to support tactical and strategic business objectives. Responsible for researching, collecting and disseminating information on emerging technologies and the applicability throughout the enterprise. Researches and recommends changes to foundation architectures. Interfaces with users, staff and managers to evaluate possible implementation of business enabling and cost-reducing solutions. Communicates complex technical subjects to various audiences. Develops, manages and forecasts capacity requirements based on business needs and IT infrastructure growth capacity. Ensures that space requirements are met across a variety of platforms. Ensures that capacity workload modeling and availability analysis is performed for a variety of platforms and environments. Presents statistical availability and trend analysis and recommendations to IT management, IT leadership and business areas as needed.


The ability to effectively collaborate, clearly communicate and reach consensus is of paramount importance. Architectural framework development or adherence is neither required nor desired. The level of work required is advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision.

  • Fosters new ideas and concepts and make recommendations surrounding complex issues
  • Balances the theoretical with reality, proposing effective compromises to satisfy business objectives
  • Develops and maintains key stakeholders relationships across the system and to effectively communicate at all levels, including technologists and business management
  • Manages outside labor procurement (obtaining consultants, writing contracts, etc.)
  • Designs and delivers integrated business/technical solutions across multiple business units and hardware/software platforms
  • Acts as a project manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Experience: Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as noted below
  • 7 or more years of experience in multiple IT infrastructure disciplines
  • Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure, with a strong understanding of the relationships between applications, databases, operating systems, processing platforms, storage platforms, security systems and networks.
  • Three or more years of experience in systems architecture
  • Excellent analytical capabilities
  • Strong implementation and systems integration background
  • Demonstrates independent thinking and decision-making abilities
  • Possesses and applies both specific and broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the field of specialization to the completion of assignments
  • Coursework in computer science, core MBA content, technical certification and related technology
