The Manager of System Operations will provide direction and leadership to the UNIX and Windows System Administrators. The Manager is responsible for scheduling the system administration resources and proper monitoring of the schedule. Responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day technical activities related to maintaining a reliable and effective environment conducive to a positive customer experience.

This person must have the ability to supervise, develop and mentor all System Administrators, supervise and participate in the ongoing maintenance of the production, stage and development server environments as well as all related infrastructure. They also must develop and maintain a program of proactive system administration. This manager will ensure the timely troubleshooting and repair all server-related problems, develop and maintain a server recovery plan for all systems to include both a regular backup schedule and tested process for data restoration, and help all departments in assuring that the highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained at all times.

Must be able to develop training and mentoring classes for all system administrators, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism in the system administration department, assist the Director of System Operations in hiring, performance evaluations and ongoing development of policies and procedures, and assist in developing ways to reduce the amount of incoming technical support requests.
Experience: This candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent coupled with three years people management experience. He or she must have a minimum four years experience managing a large scale combined UNIX/Windows server network. It is very important to have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and have a proven track record of successful leadership. This person must have strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills, the ability to continually learn new technologies, work and multi-task in an interactive environment, and must be organized and detail oriented.

Some physical requirements include being able to work flexible shifts to include evenings, weekends and midnights, the ability to lift 70 lbs., and “on call” availability.
