POSITON SUMMARY

The IT Senior Network Engineer provides engineering and operational network support to design, implement, monitor, operate, and maintain the Grant Thornton's WAN environment. This candidate will develop industry best practice processes and procedures for engineering. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the Network Project Design ( 40% of time ); Network Project Management ( 30% of time ), and ensuring efficient Management of Network Operations ( 30% of time ). This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Manages complex problem incidents and bring advanced and complex network issues to a timely resolution. Report those issues to the Network Engineering Manager and Senior IT management.
-Initiate design and engineering changes required to eliminate repetitive network problems.
-Achieve operational IT objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, identifying trends; and determining system improvements and implementing change.
-Determine and maintain project schedule by developing project plan and specifications; estimating time requirements; establishing deadlines; monitoring milestone completion; providing timely reporting of issues that impact project progress; coordinating actions; and resolving conflicts.
-Improve network systems and processes by studying operations and problems; recommending process changes; anticipating potential problems resulting from the changes; and designing and implementing software and / or configuration operational changes.
-Maintain security by keeping information confidential, and developing, maintaining, and implementing appropriate corporate information security policies and procedures.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions, read professional publications, maintain professional networks and participate in professional organizations on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary. Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
-5+ years of experience with Cisco routing and LAN switching products, preferably in an ISP environment.
-5+ years of experience with Linux systems, preferably in an ISP environment.
-Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
-System administrator certification on Linux systems, RedHat preferred, or equivalent experience.
-Experience managing modern firewall technologies: Cisco, ASA, Cisco PIX, Checkpoint, or equivalent.
-Experience managing modern VPN technologies: Cisco ASA, Nortel Contivity, or equivalent.
-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong technical writing skills.
-Must be a team player.
-Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, be proactive and able to juggle multiple priorities.
-Ability to influence events to achieve goals.
-Strong analytical skills.
-Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
