**Technical Services Project Manager**

Job description Summary

The Project Manager oversees all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The Project Manager is responsible for coordination and completion of the project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The Project Manager will be responsible for more than one project at a time.

Detailed Job description

Planning/problem-solving skills

â?¢ Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals required within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.
â?¢ Responsible for maintaining the project budget.
â?¢ Continuously monitor progress in terms of the status of the plan and the budget and report back to the board, senior management, the client, or the funding organization via weekly or other progress reporting and by organizing and managing status meetings and board meetings.
â?¢ Anticipate and catch deviations from a plan or schedule early and keep all participants and stakeholders informed.
â?¢ Identify, log, analyze and manage potential and actual issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head on and reviewing how serious issues and risks might impact on scope, schedule, quality and cost.
â?¢ Identify where and when management of issues and risks or accommodating altered requirements will involve extra time or extra resources and where efficiencies can be made.
Communication skills
â?¢ Articulate and negotiate consensus on a final vision of the core project goals from scoping the requirements of all stakeholders including the end-user.
â?¢ Define acceptance criteria or working with specialists in defining acceptance criteria for project deliverables and will works towards achieving stakeholder acceptance of deliverables.
â?¢ Solid written and oral communication skills. Able to get ideas across in a non-confrontational manner in one-to-one situations, small groups, and before large audiences.

Team management skills
â?¢ Work directly with the team members or with their team leaders (planners, resource managers) to estimate effort, plan activities and negotiate consensus among individual team members on their tasks.
â?¢ Exercise good judgment in whether tasks should be broken down into smaller detail or not.
â?¢ Use tools identified or be creative in managing that people and tasks are kept up to date (PWA, Email, Status Reports)
â?¢ Provide the team with direction and vision, including motivating people to perform, listening to people, providing feedback, recognizing strengths and providing challenges.
â?¢ Completing project-complete evaluation document, holding â?~sunsetâ?o meetings and activities, and capturing and using relevant lessons learned.


Technical and quality tasks

â?¢ Make an effort to understand the technology being used in order to understand and question requests coming from specialists and technical staff and to evaluate what is reasonable or possible.
â?¢ Understanding of various methodologies, processes and standards and ensures that all project team members understand and follow (SDLC, IPLC)
â?¢ Responsible for the projectâ?os commitment to quality â?"using the resources available when necessary.

Organizing tasks
â?¢ Keeper of documentation- including requirement specifications, contracts, schedules, project reports, communication (email) records, design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports.
â?¢ Create a structure for project documentation and remain conscientious in using it and ensuring that the team understands and uses it. (PWA. SharePoint)
Specific Requirements:
â?¢ Experience working with internal clients (business partners)
â?¢ PMI certification a plus
â?¢ Knowledge of various PM methodologies: SDLC, IPLC
â?¢ Familiarity in working with MS Project, Project Server, Lotus Notes, SharePoint
â?¢ Familiarity of various architectures: .Net, Java
â?¢ Familiarity of various databases: Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL, DB2
â?¢ Familiarity of various platforms: Unix, Ms Server, Mainframe


Experience: - Bachelor's degree is not required. Equivalent Experience is acceptable.
- 10+ years in Project Management experience is required
- SDLC experience is required. Must be able to explain experience in this area.


- Project Management methodology is required (any type, whether formal or homegrown)
- Prior financial/bank experience is highly desired. Any type of banking (mortgage, investment services, checking/savings).

Reporting to Manager or Team Lead in the Project Management Office or in some cases may also report to key stakeholders in the project.

**Key qualities**

Accountability: Candidate must meet the deliverable they agree to; whatever it takes. The HM wants a regular, reliable, reporting update of the programs, plans, and governance that is mutually agreed up. If they get behind, they need them to be willing to put the OT in to make it up.

Flexibility: The candidate must be able to work in a flexible, fluid environment. Bend when they need to bend, and mentor others on program management best practices.

Fast: The candidate must work quickly and should be self sufficient; a true "go getter" that is self motivated and ambitious. The individual needs to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Skilled; The candidate must also have strong PM skills and the ability to use automation and tools; this includes MS Office, MS Project, SharePoint, etc....
