Robert Half Technology has an exciting opportunity in downtown Chicago for a SQL DBA!!!

The SQL DBA will be providing primary enterprise application technical support and troubleshooting. The DBA will be testing and installing application upgrades and patches, and following change control procedures. This position requires some after-hours support during evenings and weekends. Job duties also include special projects as assigned.

The SQL DBA will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of enterprise business applications. He/she will be performing QA Testing for application changes prior to deployment and installing tested and approved enterprise software applications, enhancements, upgrades, service packs and patches to the production environments. The SQL DBA will also be providing enterprise business systems technical support. Responsibilities will also include understanding the technical workings of business applications to diagnose problems and identification of solutions. The applications include, but are not limited to, SmartStream (G/L and A/P), MRI (A/R and community operations), and a special emphasis on Campground Manager (A/R and resort operations.)

The SQL DBA will be monitoring SQL Server backups, jobs, and error logs daily. The DBA will be monitoring SQL Server performance issues as needed – including running SQL Profiler traces.
He/she will be maintaining a log of support calls and follow-up activities to ensure smooth customer service and timely resolutions to requests.
The SQL DBA will be acting as a liaison between users and technical support (vendor or internal) during troubleshooting activities; Performing approved data edits and uploads in SQL Server as needed; Providing backup assistance to Application Administrator as needed; Developing and maintaining documentation on procedures; Periodically reviewing with Application; Ensuring uninterrupted operations during vacations and other time off; Assisting in setting up applications to recognize new property acquisitions, and assist in the archiving of data from sold properties (dispositions); Performing ad hoc report requests for data extracts using SQL and Excel; Responsible for scheduling and performing monthly password changes. Experience: The ideal SQL DBA candidate must have: Experience with general Windows application support; Understanding of SQL Server concepts; Fluency in the SQL query language; Experience with Microsoft SSIS and SSAS; Experience with MRI, Campground Manager, SmartStream, or other campground, apartment, or hotel reservation system products is a plus.
