The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Programmer Analyst. This full-time, permanent position reports to the Director of Electronic Products and Services. Responsibilities: Works with a team to maintain, update and develop ATLA's production processes and workflows to ensure effective, efficient and timely delivery of high-quality ATLA product outputs, including searchable full-text PDFs for the ATLASerials (ATLAS ) database Designs, develops, de-bugs, implements, and maintains the specifications and the application code of programs and scripts for accessing and processing Back End database information Writes custom computer programs as needed Performs routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure the database environment is stable and capable of meeting ongoing business needs Administer database and server software Investigates and/or implements new hardware, software packages, programming languages or products important to ATLA's services, customers, and/or operations Work with other ATLA staff to develop information technology strategies and solutions Required Qualifications: BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Processing or related field; or three (3) years experience designing, developing, and implementing software applications, including designing procedures, packages, database triggers Demonstrated proficiency in programming Understanding of Object Oriented Application Design/IT methodologies to develop applications and systems Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle 10G and Oracle IAS Java edition PL/SQL experience Demonstrated proficiency with Red Hat Linux, including Shell Scripting Experience working with XML Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Perl, Java, PHP Exposure to N-tier web applications (Experience with Apache a plus) Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, verbal/written communication skills Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing requirements and priorities Demonstrated commitment to quality assurance through attention to detail Strong time management skills and consistency meeting production deadlines Preferred Qualifications: Experience in data conversion and data load processes including batch processing Experience with Oracle Text, Oracle XML DB, Intermedia, or processing large objects (BLOBs, CLOBs) in an Oracle database Experience with storage allocation and planning Experience with Oracle RMAN Familiarity with MARC records, PDF processing, Unicode full-text, or journal publishing patterns a plus SQL database & Windows familiarity/comfort .NET or C knowledge a plus Experience syncing data between Oracle and SQL server databases in Real Time Experience with library, publishing, or higher education IT a plus Salary & Benefits: ATLA, a high-tech professional association of theological libraries & librarians, produces electronic products in all fields of theology and religion.
