This is a career opportunity with an SD3 client located in Chicago. The Network Engineer will successfully service client relationships, assist in client retention and apply technology to client business issues. Engineers will learn our firm's methodology for delivering outstanding technology service and refine that methodology to continually improve our technical project and support work. Engineers will continue to develop technical skills, along with business knowledge and consulting skills.Key Responsibilities Identifying client needs and developing solutions to meet the needs Driving the client project forward by performing project analysis, technology design, implementation and testing. These projects may include specialized security review, technology design and implementation, new trading firm build-out, and best practice reviews Installing and maintaining internal and client hardware and software Troubleshooting network, server, Workstation, and storage issues Effectively responding to system problems that occur by analysing the impact, taking logical corrective steps, and effectively communicating and documenting the status Analyzing client business needs and designing, installing, and supporting infrastructure solutions on one or multiple platforms Developing technical knowledge through our internal training program and use of the labKey Requirements most but not all required Network consulting experience, able to understand client requirements and map them to our offerings. Ability to deliver solution as proposed. Detailed knowledge of and at least 4-7 years experience with consulting, design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting for most of the following: Enterprise network routing & switching (Cisco experience preferred) Datacenter network technologies Firewall, VPN, & other security technologies IP Telephony infrastructure Microsoft Windows Servers & workstations SAN/NAS systems Unix/Linux Servers & workstations is a plus Knowledge of Market Data Network Architectures and Financial Service Provider networks is a plus Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.3 GPA Independent and creative when troubleshooting minor to moderate issues Excellent interpersonal and client facing skills Ability to adapt work habits to a specified methodology Financial industry experience or a strong desire to learn about the industry Ideal applicants will have the following qualifications: Experience with trading environments, electronic trading vendors, data feeds, etc. Technical certifications (CCNP, CCIE, MCSE) About SD3SD3 is an Information Technology consulting firm dedicated to providing superior service, quality, and satisfaction to our clients.
