Robert Half Technology has a client, located in the downtown loop area, who is seeking a Computer Operator to join their team on a contract basis. The Computer Operator will maintain and support all iSeries hardware, software, and peripherals within the Agency. He/she will act as back up support to the Network Analyst, providing support to the Windows environment. The Computer Operator will assist all users through problem areas. He/she will execute and monitor iSeries production jobs, prints reports, and distributes reports in a timely manner. He/she will monitor the iSeries and WIN servers for error messages and possesses strong analytical skills to investigate and solve these errors. The Computer Operator will create and delete user accounts and permission for the iSeries and Windows, as required. The Computer Operator must be proficient with iSeries commands, iSeries security, and CL programming and possess strong knowledge of iSeries PTF installation, Client Access installations and upgrades and OS upgrades. He/she must also be familiar with iSeries system and performance management. Send all data, via FTP or other means, to our carriers. Assist all users with their submitted problem tickets. Close or status all tickets with in the thirty minute service level. Install and maintains all hardware, including PC’s, printers, and new models of iSeries and software upgrades. Communicate continuously with users and the Manager, IT Operations. Keep all procedural documentation current. Participate in the disaster recovery testing, at Sungard, at least every two years. Provide back up support to the Network Analyst, as needed. Must possess the basic skills to provide network administration.
