POSITION SUMMARY
Application DBA/ Data Modeler to design, develop and maintain data model supporting multi-tier web based system of OLTP and Data warehousing applications.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Project work will include a combination of one or more of the following tasks:
Data modeling of OLTP and Data warehousing Systems.
Create SQL and PL/SQL scripts.
Deploy schema changes in different environments.
Oracle Database Administration.
Work closely with development team to address any database issues.
Apply generally accepted SQL and PL/SQL standards and techniques to assure efficient program design and operation.
Apply generally accepted Database design and development standards and techniques to assure efficient program design and operation with the object relational mapping sub-system.
Balance the needs of others while properly executing on assigned tasks and adapt to rapidly changing and evolving requirements.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
Production and development environments are running Java on a Linux platform. DB is running Oracle on Sun Solaris and Linux platforms. We are creating high volume, high availability, distributed software applications using open source technologies. We use various XML technologies via Web Services, SOAP, XML-binding, EJB services and associated concepts.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 4 years of experience in Data Modeling of OLTP and Data Warehousing systems using ERD and/or UML
Minimum 3 years experience in SQL, PL/SQL and Shell scripting.
Minimum 3 years experience in Oracle Database Administration
Strong experience in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL debugging and tuning.
Proficiency in troubleshooting application and database issues.
Experience in using version control systems such as CVS.
Experience in Business Application, Production Control and Change Management disciplines.
Familiarity with Web Application basic concepts.
Familiarity with Java is highly desirable.
School and home projects do not qualify.
Passion for technology and the ability to think creatively when solving difficult problems.
Start-up or Internet exposure valuable.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with management, staff and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning skills.
Strong ability to assess complex situations, set priorities and implement action plans.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Software Test Engineer will direct and be involved in the design & development of automated & manual testing procedures for the high-transaction/high-availability web-service based applications. As a primary stakeholder for final product quality, the Software Test Engineer will play a key role in developing an efficient quality organization from the ground-up.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
This position will report to the Director of Quality Assurance and Customer Support. There will be constant communication with the design and development staff to understand features, write test plans, execute tests and verify quality.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Project work will include a combination of one or more of the following tasks:

1. Develop and maintain test plans, test cases and scripts.
2. Functional Testing: Evaluate functional requirements and use-cases to create functional test cases. Create functional test plans for web services and web client.
3. Collaboration: Work with project team leads and solution designers to review the testing requirements for each software release iteration and determine testing responsibilities and options.
4. Testing Methods: Perform testing tasks via black box, functional, and regression testing methods.
5. Defect Tracking: Using defect-tracking tool JIRA, help flush out the lifecycle of defects. Generate metrics on outstanding defects at launch.
6. Define and communicate criteria for user acceptance of the delivered system. Demonstrate the ability to distinguish mission critical versus cosmetic defects.
7. Challenges: Develop a feedback loop, continually looking at the product while projects are completed. Work with aggressive timeline and a lack of test plans, scripts. Balance the needs of others while properly executing on assigned tasks and adapt to rapidly changing and evolving requirements.

TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

Minimum 3 years of experience in a web/web-service based production environment. Passion for technology and the ability to think creatively when solving difficult problems.
Start-up or Internet exposure valuable. 5-7 years of Quality Assurance experience in a technical environment.
