As part of the UCD team you will serve as the liaison between the UI Designers and the eSolutions developers insuring UI designs are translated accurately from mocks to HTML. While also,

  • Working to understand technical and functional design requirements.

  • Designing, coding and testing technical solutions.

  • Creating prototypes for client engagements.

  • Understanding the necessity of and contribute to coding standards.

  • Appling knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients.



    Your principal accountabilities will be:

    1. Maintain an awareness of current trends in technology, design, eBusiness, marketing and financial services to identify opportunities to enhance the experience design of interactive products and services.

    2. Act as technical lead on small projects including taking ownership of deadlines, deliverables and quality control.



    3. Foster a collaborative, creative environment by sharing critiques and participating in project brainstorming sessions.



    4. Observe and understand appropriate research to uncover customer and business needs, as required.



    5. Understand what users of web-based products need and want to do in the context of those products. Create interfaces for those products that best serve the users’ needs while balancing the needs and expectations of the business.

    6. Create material for user testing (electronic click-through prototypes, live system testing, etc.)

    7. Assist fellow HUE team members in evaluating and translating research findings into actionable insights and design improvements.

    8. Consult with Information Research Engineers and UI Designers on site architecture documentation and translation into visual experiences to offer insights on technological impacts.

    9. Consult with Information Research Engineers and UI Designers to make recommendations and help to establish standards for user testing and performance measurement for interactive product or service.

    10. Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.

    11. Complete other related duties as assign Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Interactive/Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Studio Art, Human Computer Interaction, or related area
  • A deep understanding of HTML, DHTML, CSS and standard office productivity applications. At least 2 years of experience authoring HTML, plus knowledge of cross-platform/browser HTML compatibility issues.
  • Experience with JavaScript and major design applications is a plus.
  • Some graphics experience, including the ability to manipulate and optimize graphics with Photoshop is preferred.
  • The ability to be highly flexible, show strong initiative and possess creative problem-solving skills. The candidate must also be able to multi-task, prioritize and consistently meet deadlines.
  • The ability to present a portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of and passion for experience design and basic graphic design principles is preferred; strong oral and written communication skills; an understanding of user-centered design principles; knowledge of industry best practices and standards; and a professional communicator inside and outside the design team.
