Robert Half Technology has a client in Chicago seeking an IT Director. The candidate will provide efficient, reliable, and modern information technology systems, telephone systems, and equipment that support internal operations, improve service levels to agencies, and provide better connectivity with outside organizations and individuals. Responsibilities will include the following: Ensure the client is technically current and supported to be efficient in all necessary business activities. Direct and supervise the IT department, ensuring adherence to client's personnel policies and procedures. Provide training and development, appraisal, and recognition. Evaluate staff and recommend salary actions. Maintain computer hardware (servers, desktops and workstations), applications, and databases with minimal down time, in keeping with annual budget development and year around maintenance of assigned dollars. Support and manage the electronic side of the phone system, including the connectivity and basic system changes. Work effectively with the telephone company personnel and the internal phone system personnel, as necessary. Design defenses to reduce the likelihood of the computer systems being damaged by viruses and takes corrective action when viruses hit. Design and administer the monitoring and reporting of computer use with the objective of providing information to managers to minimize inappropriate use of the computer systems. Provide oversight of the IT Team and their follow through in supporting all system users. Work with technical vendors for system updates, support and service, as necessary. Plan, design and implement the steady stream of new projects as they arise (e.g. Convio, Navision and RE), including client's Basic Training/Orientation for Employees. Ensure IT Disaster/Recovery Backup plan is maintained and updated. Develop, document and update the IT Strategic Plan to provide necessary flexibility to the changing needs of the organization. Experience: Bachelor&#146;s degree in Computer Science or other applicable science degree or equivalent experience; Advanced degree preferred. 7+ years in IT system analysis, user support and computer operation with medium sized companies. Demonstrated capability in client/server environment with Microsoft NT/W2K, most Back office products especially MS-SQL server, Exchange Server, MS-Access and Visual Basic. Thorough understanding of relational database management systems and Windows systems. Comprehension of network technologies, specifically Ethernet topology with various speed and equipments. Experienced with computer- based phone systems and related wiring and support. Experienced in the use of most Microsoft Applications (Projects, Visio, etc.) Excellent communication skills.
