Project Description:(What project will the contractor be working on?) Under general supervision of the Network Engineering Manager and/or more senior network engineers, serve as project staff in the engineering, design, implementation, management, and operations of the highly technical statewide network which includes backbone circuits, routers, switches, and POPs migrating to a converged network to include voice, video, data and other services. Job Description:(What will the contractor do on that project?) Position is responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of network access, control, performance, and disaster recovery standards that directly impact employee and external constituents throughout the state. Provide support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support staff in RTC and CSC. Resolve a diverse set of problems using problem-solving skills and diagnostic methods and tools. Successful performance ensures the high availability of network services to constituents that result in commercially-acceptable levels of user/customer satisfaction on a 24/7 platform. The Network Engineer 3 is responsible for: 1. 24/7 support of State of Illinois Network. 2. Provide phone support for all State of Illinois agencies. 3. Develop and implement methods and procedures as well as statewide policies. 4. Supervisory and lead field support for Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 staff. 5. Engineering router-based high-speed technology network transports to deliver application functionality 6. Evaluating and implements new network technologies. 7. Providing application-specific support (eg, telephony, video/audio) to other engineers, NOC and RTC support staff, and other team technical members as needed. 8. Providing technical and project management leadership on multiple components of a large project or a single complex component. 9. Developing effective communication with institutional representatives and state agency personnel to conduct studies, collect information, and convey analysis for support of senior management recommendations. 10. Perform program management and administration. 11. Other duties as assigned from time to time. 12. Cisco experience required (LAN/WAN). 13. Knowledge of telco services including MPLS and FRAME RELAY. 14. Familiar with Remedy asset inventory tools. 15. They will have 12 hour rotating shifts--7:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. or 7:00p.m. to 7:00a.m. Work 2-4 days (4 days at the most but not likely) averaging 1-2 days off. Work every other weekend or as needed. CCNA is not a required skill; however, if candidate is certified, please provide certification number.
