Senior Network Administrator in Chicago, IL
Our client currently seeks a Senior Network Administrator for a DIRECT-HIRE opportunity in Chicago.
Experience/Skills Required:
. Strong knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 server, Active Directory, , MS Exchange2000/2003, Veritas Backup, recovery and anti-virus tools.
. 4+ years of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 Server administration experience including network design, install and support.
. Working knowledge of Cisco equipments, thin-client technology, HP, Compaq and Dell servers and network monitoring tools
. Advanced PC skills: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and MS Project.
. Strong organizational and problem analysis/solving skills.
. Strong project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set and meet goals and priorities in order to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.
. Excellent verbal/written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
. Ability to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and occasional work weekends for system upgrades and maintenance activities.
. Strong knowledge of Network printing and File Sharing
. Ability to work independently and team work
. Excellent management and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated experience in applying new technologies and designing critical systems that will help clients to achieve low downtime and higher performance.
. Expertise and experience in designing, implementing, migrating, administering and documenting network infrastructures. Technologies include switches and routers, Firewalls, etc
. A broad understanding of Local and Wide-Area Networking technologies
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This individual will oversee the planning, development, and installation of network systems for small to medium size clients. Coordinate and recommend all network procurement needs. Performs the analysis of network needs and contributes to the design of network architecture, integration, and installation. Makes recommendations on applications and system hardware specifications. Writes project proposals for the perspective clients. Writes documentation to describe and develop installation and operating procedures. Works closely with IS representative/contact person from clients on activities that involve the coordination of hardware/software upgrades, installation of new network products, and new technologies that involve the data network. Monitors and communicates network activities to management who are affected by the performance of the LAN. Serves as a technical expert for inquiries regarding data network use and capabilities. Advises what tasks to carry out and ensures completion of duties. Exchange 2003 Architecture The individual will provide expert technical knowledge end to end for the Microsoft Exchange infrastructure including SMTP, mail/public folders, active directory integration, Exchange organization/site/server topology and configuration. Ensures that the network infrastructure is effectively managed to support client's business requirements, optimizing the costs and benefits of these services. This position involves traveling to clients around the Chicago land area. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Education
Required: * Associate Degree in computer science related field or equivalent work experience as a Network Administrator.
Preferred: * Bachelor Degree in a computer related field
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2000/2003) is highly preferred
Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) a PLUS
