POSITION SUMMARY
In an environment becoming increasingly more regulated, and with an emphasis on professional excellence and integrity, GTI proactively initiated an effort to establish and implement a global standard for monitoring and managing independence risk. Grant Thornton selected and has begun the word-wide implementation of the Global Independence System ( GIS ) as its automated solution for the tracking and management of potential independence threats arising from the financial interests of Grant Thornton professionals and member firms. The GIS is a proprietary web-based application developed and licensed by an external software provider, which provides an electronic method for self reporting personal financial holdings and automating the identification and clearing of conflicts with Grant Thornton clients. This solution is intended to improve efficiencies and increase reliability of Independence monitoring and reporting globally across the Grant Thornton member firm network.
The GIS Analyst position offers an opportunity for you to leverage your strong analytical talent and background in information technology and/or accounting and audit to broaden your system and business skills in a rewarding and challenging environment. The GIS Analyst is a member of the GTI Independence Team and supports the administration of the firm's global independence monitoring and tracking solution. The GIS Analyst leads the team's knowledge management activities, provides analysis in support of application reporting, testing, defect management and identification of desired enhancements, and supports the Technical Specialist in user and data administration activities.
This role is based in Chicago, Illinois, and will report to the Global Independence Team Manager, who is also based in Chicago.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Perform research and analysis needed for application User Acceptance Testing, Defect Management, definition of new functionality and desired enhancements, database updates and additions.
-Lead team Knowledge Management activities, including drafting process and procedure documentation and reference guides and processing updates to internal intranet sites and the team repository ( Microsoft SharePoint ).
-Aid in team administration including meeting coordination, scheduling, logistics, compilation of meeting summaries and tracking action items
-Execute and compile application reports, evaluate and communicate report results.
-Process system administration activities, under the direction of the Technology Specialist, including user account creation and maintenance and data analysis, updates and clean-up.
-Oversee and monitor system and file processes and identify and communicate defects or failures.
-Provide Level II support to satisfy user requests, questions, and overall support issues.
-Draft communications related to application change events and team projects.
-Maintain current knowledge of IT trends and IT systems processes.
-Maintain a good working relationship with internal clients and vendor contacts.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Participate in professional development and training opportunities as available.
-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology or related field.
-Recent graduate or up to one year of experience as an associate or staff level consultant in public accounting or audit, supporting financial or risk systems, or in a similar practice or function.
-Prior business systems implementations experience a plus.
-Solid analytical skills.
-Robust research skills and dexterity in using internet search engines.
-Understanding of data management techniques and relational databases a plus.
-Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
-Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to assume, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments.
-Adheres to established schedules, work plans, and deadlines.
-Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office ( Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint )
-Experience with Microsoft Project, Access and Visio and SQL experience a plus.
-Inquisitive, thoughtful, and the ability to think independently, while having the awareness to request help when needed.
