Linux System Administrator in Chicago, IL
RESPONSIBILITIES: The right candidate for our client is capable and experienced at being the first line of issue resolution for our trading environment. Someone who is adept at monitoring daily activity, notification of issues, detailed in follow through with daily procedures and clearing functions. Responsible for responding to information requests regarding trading and quoting. Strong evaluation skills area needed with application tools for management of daily reports. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include: Application release and coordination of various production environments. Document the coordination of releases and revision updates and of configuration and of applications and distribution. Recovery plans; ensure understanding of issues and process, responding to questions and optimization of environments and determine resolution. Key: assess and determine configuration needs and issue, proactively working to reduce recovery time. Reporting: Creating and monitoring reports regarding installation, specifically noting the areas of failures determination of the occurrence and actions to correct. Knowledge of the company, the various aspects of application release for smooth transitions, mentors others in release management, and assesses timing and steps for distribution. Gather requirements, define project, and ensure data integrity is maintained and timely. Technical Skills2 + years of experience as a Linux Administrator.Must have strong Linux and Perl Shell programming experience.Knowledge of the Unix, Solaris, C and C++ are all a plus.Ideally will have experience from the trading or financial industry.
