Prestigious Fortune 500 Company located in Chicagos Loop is currently seeking an Applications Manager to manage 30 people. Candidates will lead, mentor, develop, and perform post implementation support. Candidates should have as much experience with Mainframe, Cobol, Java Powerbuilder, as well Distributed DB2, Oracle, SQL, etc.
Candidates will be responsible for guiding developers and analysts to results in application development and production reliability. This position requires interaction within the Information Technology Group (ITG) and with internal business customers across all plans to support existing mission critical applications and to develop new solutions. Job activities will include recruiting, performance appraisal, staff training, coaching, prioritizing, work planning, delegation, status reporting, and budgeting. Other responsibilities will include communicating corporate and ITG objectives to staff, setting team goals, championing Code of Conduct, monitoring and adjusting to performance metrics, and furthering the roll out of ITG development best practices. Significant experience in production application support is important. Ideally, the candidate will bring to the position the ability to identify, implement, and manage methods and processes that ensure high production availability and reliability. The candidate should have five or more years of technical experience with a track record of production support, flexibility, partnership, commitment to task, continuous learning, customer focus and energizing others.
Requirments:
1) Five years of work experience with a Bachelor Degree OR Six years of work experience with a Technical Certificate or college courses OR Seven years of work experience. 2) Demonstrated leadership skills. 3) Experience in mission critical application environments. 4) A background in leading multi-disciplinary teams in: JAVA / HTML systems development and maintenance, relational database management systems such as DB/2, multi-platform high performance applications (i.e. RS/6000, mainframe environments). 5) Ability to influence and communicate with various levels of leadership. 6) Proven problem solving and decision making skills. 7) Demonstrated project management and oversight skills. 8) Solid organization skills with an attention to detail.
