A Smartsource client is seeking a Business Analyst to be a liaison between specific business areas in the firm and the Information Strategy Group - the strategic planning committee which steers the applications development teams.

Profile
The Business Analyst (BA) will work with specific business areas analyzing their existing business processes and information needs thereby allowing them to discover opportunities to leverage technology resources that will enable the business to function more effectively.

To successfully perform this role, the BA must be able to achieve a deep understanding of the requirements of a business process or informational need in a way that will allow them to discuss and confirm the need with the business contacts using non-technical language. In addition, the BA must also be able to explain with sufficient detail the technical aspects of the request to the software designers and developers, providing them with enough information and perspective to develop the product or implement the solution.

Responsibilities

· Works closely with business areas to learn about their business objectives, processes and information needs
· Discover opportunities and analyze feasibility of potential technology projects which could be beneficial to business areas
· Organize and facilitate meetings with business to gather and document requirements
· Look for opportunities to improve existing processes or provide new value to business areas through the application of technology resources
· Attend business meetings (some travel required)
· Provide ongoing support to the applications development team during construction to insure delivered solution will fully satisfy the business needs for which it is intended
· Facilitate meetings with the business area throughout duration of project, demonstrating prototypes and early product versions in order to keep business users up-to-date with project status and obtain timely, relevant feedback
· Participate in quality assurance of final products which may include manual testing and/or defining test scenarios and acceptance criteria
· Work with trainers and project managers to introduce new or modified systems products to business users
· Establish and cultivate an open line of communication with business area leadership and related experts in order to stay aware of changes in business needs and opportunities to provide beneficial improvements to processes or product
Qualifications

· Experience as a business analyst for an enterprise software or top-tier consulting firm
· College degree with focus in business, computer science or management information systems (or equivalent), advanced degree in business preferred
· Maturity and confidence to interact with a range of management and staff from many disciplines and with varying degrees of technical experience
· Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
· Experience facilitating meetings and delivering presentations
· Ability to identify business needs and recognize potential opportunities for the application of technology as a solution
