A Software Performance Lead (SPL) has successfully applied and has comprehensive understanding of multiple testing and quality processes, principles, measurements and reports throughout the software development and/or infrastructure production support processes, on both sides of the Quality ''V'' model. The SPL has the ability to apply their testing knowledge and experience to any stage of a project. The SPL has lead performance test efforts on multiple projects and is a testing consultant for the organization. The SPL will lead, mentor and teach all levels of Software Test Analysts, Project Managers, and other designated personnel on performance test practices, processes and procedures. The SPL can act as a mediator of application or infrastructure quality and escalation issues. The SPL has understanding of and further develops knowledge and skills in scope definition, scheduling, budgeting and management practices..
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leading interdepartmental or interdivisional performance project initiatives for business units. Serving as key performance test solution provider
Advising the Business Units on Performance Testing and Test Management
Planning, design and implementation of performance test architecture/framework.
Development of a common Performance Test Methodology and a core set of performance test artifacts to be adopted by the business units
Establishing and Implementing a structured Performance Testing Roadmap for large Projects
Creating Performance Test Strategy and Test Plans for customer-intensive applications with deliverables and milestones
Establishing procedures for the creation of test environments for each of the projects supported, which includes creating
Acting as a consultant to applications groups or infrastructure departments, and the organization on testing issues throughout the development and production support processes to:
a. improve software quality and hardware performance
b. identify defects and issues
c. reduce rework
d. increase customer satisfaction
e. provide consistent test standards across the market
Applying testing knowledge and experience to any stage of a project.
Leading testing efforts on multiple projects and is a testing consultant for a market or the organization.
Leading, mentoring, and teaching all levels of Software Test Analysts, Project Managers, and other designated personnel on testing practices, processes and procedures.
Validating Test Environment Readiness for functional/non-functional test needs
Establishing standard procedures for manual and automated test execution, results analysis and risk escalation
Acting as a mediator of application quality on escalated issues.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering preferred
5+ years of hands-on experience with automated performance simulation tools
5+ years of hands-on experience with Mercury LoadRunner, including all monitoring capabilities
Experience in performance testing of enterprise software products, preferably 5+ years in SAP or People Soft.
Knowledge and working experience with the following:
Unix/Linux OS monitoring commands
OpenView MeasureWare
Windows Performance Monitor
Experience with 3-tier e-commerce server side applications using EJBs (Enterprise Java Beans) or other component architectures such as CORBA, DCOM, etc), Servlet, XML, SQL, etc.
Demonstrable skills in algorithm development and problem solving
Exceptional organizational and self-management skills
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with proven track record to drive performance test efforts to completion
Outstanding attention to detail
Must understand n-tier systems from an architectural perspective
Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines, work on multiple projects at the same time and manage resources at multiple sites
Strong knowledge of the following:
IT concepts, strategies and methodologies
Development and production support processes
Quality practices and testing tools
Quality process creation and implementation
Business functions and business operations
Different types, focus areas and implementations of testing
General knowledge of HR processes
Preferred but not Required:
Proven experience with programming in Java, Perl, PHP, and ASP is a plus
General knowledge of SAP and/or Peoplesoft a plus
Specific experience with WebSphere is a big plus (or other application servers like WebLogic, JBoss, TomCat, etc.)
