Overview:

This role will be responsible for providing technical coordination and technical guidance to the Global Network Services team comprised of Data and Voice Network Engineers and support staff. The lead will also provide mentoring to junior staff and be a primary point of contact and delegation for the GNS Manager.



Responsibilities:

- Engage with middle level management within internal customer population to deliver services utilizing staff across the globe.

- Meet with key internal customers on a regular basis to review their needs, issues and concerns.

- Provide 3rd level support for Data Communications (WANs, LANs, Routers & Switch technologies performance/diagnostic tools, remote connectivity, network storage, wireless technologies, data encryption, etc)

- Ensure that global Data services perform optimally and remain resilient at all times, also contribute towards capacity/bandwidth monitoring and the on-going evolution of Global Data services.

- Ensure SLA's & operational KPIs are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur

- Maintain and exercise Disaster Recovery procedures

- Ensure high quality documentation for supported infrastructure is developed and maintained

- Provide timely, quality estimates for projects.

- Ensure Root Cause Analysis and Service Improvement functions are performed for Global Data services

- Assist with the development of a coherent, consistent and more effective Data Communications infrastructure

- Ensure that security is maintained across all Internal Data networks globally

-Perform analysis of audit requirements and implement recommendations where required.

- Assist in the development and design of Data networking requirements for infrastructure globally.

- Provide 2nd/3rd line support for complex data networking infrastructure.

- Ensure good quality documentation for supported infrastructure is developed and maintained

- Provide timely, quality estimates for any potential project work.

- Carry out work to a high degree of quality and to agreed timescales, cost

- Assist with day to day administration for Data Communications infrastructure and ensure that consistent security policies are maintained

- Take ownership of Data Communication related issues to ensure issues are seen through to resolution.

- Be aware of the responsibilities within the roles of Voice Communications Specialist and Application Services Specialist and be able to perform the day to day accountabilities of these roles



Requirements:

- Minimum 7 years practical experience of Data Communications support (certification highly desirable)

- 3 years practical knowledge of Cisco / Nortel routing & switching hardware platforms, performance & diagnostic tools, Wireless Technology & data encryption.

- Qualifications either at educational level (HND, HNC in UK, Associates degree in US) or equivalent technical level certification (CCNA / NNCSS)

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels

- Ability to prioritise team workload and manage time effectively

- Significant project management experience to plan and execute moderate to complex projects

- Other desirable skills include: Intel, Firewall/VPN technologies, Windows NT/2000/2003, CTI, AS400, Exchange 2003, MS Cluster technologies
