Robert Half Technology has a client, located in the downtown loop area, who is looking for a SQL Database Developer to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. The SQL Database Developer must be strong in SQL 2000/2005. The environment is faced paced - high stress at times, challenging and demanding. At the same time, it can be very gratifying and rewarding. The SQL Database Developer will be a part of a strong team, bringing ideas and business intelligence to the table. Responsibilities will include: developing the technical systems knowledge to ensure a complete understanding of the entire Microsoft application architecture and platform as implemented in the company from end to end. Optimizing database performance by analyzing queries, stored procedures and database structures and then implementing necessary changes to meet application performance service level agreements. Working with application teams to develop and implement the logical and physical databases models based upon business requirements as well as architectural and development standards. Developing and maintaining the database architecture standards and working with the application developers and teams to ensure applications are compatible with the current operating systems and database standards.

Experience: BS or MS preferred. 5+ years experience with and knowledge of writing and optimizing T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers, SSIS / DTS. 8+ years of experience of broad range of database administration and management in Microsoft Environments. Knowledge of database performance tuning, optimization for large-scale transactional database installations. Solid understanding of the application development process, including analysis and design, development tools and technologies, release management and version control and contemporary testing methodologies. Thorough understanding of the Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS platform, data modeling, database performance tuning and optimization methodologies. Strong analytical, problem-solving, account management, and conceptual skills. Solid teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to work well on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks. Ability to adapt and rapidly apply changing technology to meet business needs. Significant experience with the design, management and maintenance of SQL Server databases in OLTP and OLAP environments. Significant experience with the design, deployment and maintenance of Analysis Services / Reporting Services. Experience on SQL Server 2005 strongly preferred. MCDBA a plus.
