Job Title: Senior Desktop Engineer
Location: CHICAGO, IL 60612
6 month contract with option to hire.

Summary of Duties: The main objective for this role would be to take responsibility for the deployment, implementation, administration and support of Rush University Medical Center's Microsoft SMS (Systems Management Server) infrastructure. Will work with other team members to package applications for distribution via SMS. Will be responsible for desktop patching and distribution of patches. Candidate will work closely with the Systems Engineering team to manage application distribution to Citrix environment.

Responsibilities

· 2nd and 3rd level support for SMS infrastructure problems
· 2nd and 3rd level support for SMS client related problems
· SMS Report Management
· Active Directory and SMS script Writing
· Some SQL Query Development (related to SMS database)
· Overall understanding of software package development via Wise
· Software configuration management
· Technical writing/documentation
· Maintains SMS test laboratory
· Recommends and implements policies and standards and ensures adherence to security procedures
· Training documentation
· Microsoft patch distribution and testing
· Overall infrastructure security monitoring
· Audit of hardware/software inventory via SMS
· Overall understanding of networking
· Overall understanding of Microsoft systems administration
· Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory
· Desktop security management and forensic investigation

Attributes:

Bachelors' degree in related computer sciences, or degree in a related business field with a computer certificate, or equivalent in experience.
Candidate must have the ability to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on Microsoft desktop environments.
Candidate will need to provide tier three support for desktop environments.
Work independently while providing time management skills.

Technical skills: Fours to six years experience with Microsoft Windows with the following:

Expert in MS Windows XP/2000/NT
Knowledge of Windows NT/2000/2003 server
System design and administration of Microsoft SMS
Expert in troubleshooting application distribution via MS SMS
