Sr. Network Engineer

Job Description/Responsibilities:
Assist in the daily and pro-active maintenance of the Windows infrastructure environment. Help in the evaluating and testing of implementations of hardware firmware, OS patching and network operation systems updates.
Assist with the daily monitoring of Windows and infrastructure servers through use of the network management system and pro-actively resolve issues as need arise.
Participate in a 24 by 7 rotation for troubleshooting and solving outages as an on call engineer providing documentation and communications to the rest of the team when an incident arises.
Participate in the early morning shift rotation to cover infrastructure related issues and assist in the helpdesk early morning shift as requested from the staff on the shift.
Take ownership and assist in resolving all infrastructure related tasks i.e. Notes, Firewall, VPN, security and others that arise through the helpdesk system. Become 3rd level support for all Infrastructure related incidents and projects.
Provide third level support through peering and knowledge transfer for the helpdesk in supporting the clients.
Help maintain documentation on server related procedures and issues that arise from daily operations.
Assist the Infrastructure Manager in infrastructure related projects as assigned using documentation and other resources as needed. Participate in related meetings to current projects and the weekly status meetings to provide concise and timely updates.
Participate in the evaluation/testing of new server technologies and server network operating systems. Offer new and innovative ideas that will increase our reliability and effectiveness of our network servers and infrastructure.
Assist in managing the Infrastructure team to accomplish team tasks and goals through delegation and cooperation. Attend meetings concerning client infrastructure environment related to incidents and new engagements.
Create and manage pro-active and preventative procedures on all Intel servers on a regular basis. I.e. Monitoring Active Directory, maintaining consistent service packs, HP System Insight Manager.
Communicate with management and peers in the progress tasks as assigned for the purpose of resource planning and team work.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in server related maintenance and installation of Windows, Linux a big plus.
7 years or more in Information Technology.
In depth knowledge of TCP/IP and related routing protocols.
In depth knowledge of server hardware and technologies.
The ability to pro-actively learn through the use of documentation and web based resources like forums, vendor publications and knowledge bases.
Engineer must be working toward certification of a MSCE and infrastructure related certification or at least experience equal to having a MSCE.
