Robert Half Technology has an exciting ongoing opportunity at a trading firm in downtown Chicago for an entry level Web / Application Developer for a 6 month contract to full time role. This is a technical role providing support and leadership for application and Web development functions for the Marketing Department. The Web / Application Developer works with consultants, the project management office, content writers and Marketing management to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and development of new customer-facing applications. Essential duties and responsibilities will include: Maintaining existing websites and developing new sites and web-based applications, analyzing traffic patterns to streamline interfaces and correct issues, participating in a minimum of 20 hours per calendar year of technical training, either company sponsored or through personal education and professional development learning, and working with the IT Project Managers to develop standards and operating procedures for change management, business continuity and deployment of new applications. The Web / Application Developer will communicate to management and associates all routine maintenance intervals including contingency or possible interruptions in service.

Experience: This Web / Application Developer role requires a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Web Development or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Languages &#150; XHTML, Dynamic HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, VBScript, C#, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, Ajax and Flash.
Web Servers &#150; IIS and Apache (Linux knowledge a plus but not required)
Relational Database &#150; SQL Server 2000/2005.
IDEs including Visual Studio 2003/2005 and Dreamweaver.
Excellent oral and written communications skills are required as is the ability to work in a multi-task team environment with emphasis on peak performance and results.
