We have an immediate need for a DW Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Data Warehouse Developer collaborates as a member of a project team to implement and support business intelligence solutions to satisfy information requirements for planning and decision making, using data from core administrative systems. The individual in this position will assist in translating BI requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models, work on the design of extract/transform/load (ETL) processes, and be responsible for ETL coding, testing, implementation, and production support. This position will initially support student data reporting pilot and the Integrated Reporting Facility (IRF) Data Warehouse that currently provides financial and payroll data. The Data Warehouse Developer will work with a Senior Data Warehouse Developer, other members of the Business Information Services team, and the database administration, systems administration, and application systems groups on new subject areas and enhancements to IRF (e.g. HR, automated report distribution of standard reports, Accounts Payable, budget reporting, etc.).

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
- Four years application development experience, including demonstrated experience working with a formal software development life cycle
- Three years experience developing and supporting ETL processes
- Two years experience implementing database designs, relational and/or dimensional
- Solid experience with the following required: Relational database technology, especially Oracle and MS SQL, Data query, analysis, and reporting techniques, and OLAP concepts, SQL coding techniques, performance monitoring, and tuning, Oracle Stored Procedures and Packages, Database access methodologies (ODBC, JDBC, Oracle client, Perl DBI), Database development and administration tools (PL/SQL, SQL Developer, SQL Plus, SQL Loader, Toad, OEM), Programming environments, languages, and systems built using (C, C++, Java), ETL design tools (e.g. OWB, DataStage), Database Design tools (e.g. Power Designer, Erwin), UNIX operating system and development environments and tools (PERL, shell scripting)

Desired Qualifications

- Two years of data warehouse lifecycle development experience (e.g. Kimball) in an enterprise environment
- Working knowledge of the following tools and applications: Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Job Schedulers (e.g. ESP)
