Modis is currently seeking a Systems Engineer with Network Security experience an exciting contract opportunity with our client in the downtown Chicago/Loop area. The position is expected to start immediately and last for an initial duration of 12 months. There is a very high likelihood of contract extension and/or full time conversion. Job Description The Systems Engineer will be assisting in the development of a large-scale applications using Perl, Shell Scripting, PHP, AJAX and Java. When completed, the application will serve as an interface between users and Network Security applications/services such as PIX/ASA Firewalls, Intrusion Detection systems and Security Information Management/Threat Management systems for IP Data Networks. Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of application development using Java, JavaScript, Perl, UNIX Shell Scripting, PHP and AJAX while working in a RedHat Linux environment/SQL database environment. These development skills are essential to the project. In addition, candidates must have a minimum of 1-2 years exposure to IP Network Security and Managed Security services (Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Security Information Management, etc). Required Skills & Qualifications Minimum 4 year college degree in an IT related field.Expert Java/JavaScript DevelopmentExpert Perl and UNIX Shell Scripting experience (used within the past 6 months)Advanced PHP and AJAX skillsExpert RedHat Linux, UNIX or Sun Solaris O/S experienceExpert Oracle 91/10g or SQL Database experience1-2 years experience with Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and Security Information Management is highly preferred.
