Intel/Unix Server Refresh Project Manager/Lead Description

The candidate must possess strong project management skills. Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including managing project scope, and creating and managing the master project schedule. For each server in the refresh scope, the candidate must coordinate with various matrixed resources to create and implement detailed plans, including:
Work with affected application groups to define schedules, requirements, and test plans; and obtain test acceptance
Work with IT Engineering resources to define configurations and order equipment
Work with Site IT resources to prepare sites for installation
Work with 3rd party resources to build, install, and execute cutovers of new equipment, and remove old equipment.

Candidate must follow good accounting practices to manage the project within the approved budget, track expenditures, and prepare monthly budget forecasts and accruals.

Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communications skills. Candidate will be required to manage outsourced and matrixed resources at multiple locations. Candidate will be working with application groups and end users, and must be able to present technical data and considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Candidate must be able to run effective meetings both in person and on conference calls. Candidate must possess a strong background in change control and will be expected to follow rigorous change management processes.
Experience: Candidate should have PROVEN Project Management skills, have a working technical knowledge of Intel and Unix platforms and platform concepts such as virtual servers, server partitioning, and SAN topology. Client IT Engineering will engineer the solution for each servers, but Candidate must be able to coordinate with Engineering and application groups to obtain consensus on server design. Candidate must also have familiarity with supporting infrastructure such as DNS, firewalls, and Active Directory in order to effectively manage implementations and evaluate risk.
