Summary:
Maintains, integrates and develops applications to support the business objectives of a financial services company. The position also requires a deep knowledge of data management strategies. This would include using middleware or other technologies to support reporting and application integration efforts. Programming duties would include the modification and design of interfaces between applications as well as the creation of custom applications for the business when appropriate. Skills related to requirements analysis and full cycle project management and off the shelf product evaluation are important. Good communications skills and a strong knowledge of back office operations as they relate to the securities industry are also important. May lead and direct the work of others as well as gather project specifications and conduct project presentations to business users.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for application development and systems integration in a Windows 2000/XP workstation / WIN2K/2K3 server environment using primarily Microsoft development tools.
Responsible for database design and support for the applications support / development team in an MS SQL2000 environment. This includes helping to teach others the best practices related to data design and data management techniques.
Responsible for daily maintenance and support of existing accounting, trading and research applications.
Responsible for working to migrate existing systems to an MS SQL2000 backend for data access.
Responsible for maintaining and creating system documentation as part of the project process.

Microsoft certification
Experience programming with Lotus Notes.
Experience with accounting system support, particularly Advents AXYS product.
Experience with trading system support, particularly Macgregors trading system (MFTP).
Experience working with application support in a CITRIX environment.
Experience working on disaster recovery projects.
Experience working with performance measurement systems such as Factset, Barra or Wilshire.
Experience programming interfaces to data sources such as Bloomberg or ILX.
Experience with MS SQL2000 Data Transformation Services and with Visual FoxPro.

Experience: 4-year degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years experience with programming, database and systems design \ integration work.
Strong knowledge of MS SQL2000, applications data access methods and stored procedures programming.
Strong experience using Microsoft programming tools particularly Visual Basic.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Proven ability to effectively work with team members and business users.
Proven track record of project management.
Previous financial industry experience
