Position Summary: This role is responsible for leading MDIS (Manufacturing Data Information System) and related manufacturing application projects and activities based on business unit priorities. The MDIS Application Lead works with business stakeholders, MDIS team members, and other IT staff to ensure projects meet all business, technical, security, documentation, and development specifications. The MDIS Application Lead is responsible for the design, development, installation and maintenance of solutions to collect and report on quality, process, and production data as part of the manufacturing process, with a vision for how MDIS should evolve to meet and anticipate emerging business requirements. S/he oversees the coding, debugging, documentation and implementation of complex applications, in the context of the computing environment at manufacturing locations, including LAN, PLC, HMI, and other equipment. Required Qualifications: - Proven successful project management experience: the ability to create project plans with timelines, estimate work effort and time required for tasks, assign tasks, monitor progress, resolve problems, and ensure deadlines and project budgets are met. - Ability to establish productive relationships with those in the business community in order to foster collaboration and alignment of IT with the business. - Ability to step back from the details of day-to-day operations in order to see the "big picture" and suggest impactful changes and help persuade others in the decision-making process. - Ability to supervise others in a remote team environment. Strong communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time, prioritize as needed, and meet deadlines. Self-motivation and a high level of initiative. - Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Demonstrated ability to understand, identify, and recommend solutions to manufacturing-related information needs. - Ability to represent MDIS at meetings of various technical manufacturing groups, including making presentations, and to work across the organization with various IT, manufacturing, engineering, technical, and other business constituents. - Capability to mentor others in technical and non-technical domains in order to improve effectiveness, efficiency and teamwork. - Previous application development experience, in a distributed computing environment, required. Thorough knowledge of PC, Client-Server and Internet development tools and systems. - Ability to travel to plant locations (estimated 20% travel). Preferred Qualifications: - Excellent analytical, problem solving, project management, interpersonal and communication skills. Self-motivation and a high level of initiative. - Knowledge of factory floor programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and supporting online instrumentation. - Practice of keeping abreast of current and emerging application development technologies, and actively pursuing information on developing software technologies that would enhance MDIS applications.
