We are currently seeking to fill a Technical Specialist - Oracle Applications DBA position for our client in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities: - Install, patch, upgrade, configure, tune, and maintain the Oracle 11i E-business suite and 9i databases. - Provide level 2 support (24x7) for the production environment, which includes high-volume business-critical applications. - Collaborate with system and network administrators. - Install system enhancements and assist in hardware, software, and data utilization analysis to ensure maximum efficiency and effective use. - Participate in the design, implementation, and testing of the disaster recover procedures. - Provide DBA support for custom application development efforts. - Limited travel may be required Requirements: - Strong analytical and problem solving skills - Has initiative and is self-disciplined - Knowledge of business and technical environments - Hands on experience with Oracle 9i database management systems and overall Oracle technical environment - Experience with Oracle 11i applications (Financial, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, HRMS) - Experience with physical database design, writing Oracle stored procedures, and designing and creating indices - Understanding of data modeling concepts Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with application development - Has either Oracle database 8i or 9i certification - Experience with Oracles Real Application Cluster (RAC), creating standby databases, and working with high-availability cluster solutions - Experience with Oracle RMAN, Oracle 10gAS, Oracle Enterprise Manager - Experience in leading projects Education/Years of Experience: - Minimum of 5 years IT experience - 4 years of Oracle database administration - 2 years of Oracle applications administration - 2 years of UNIX - 2 years PL/SQL coding - 1 year of Oracle 11i applications administration - Minimum of 2 years experience working in a large organization - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent work experience - Must be able to work some weekends, nights, and holidays Apply now if your skills and experience are a good match for the position and remember this: At Harvey Nash, the door to opportunity is always wide open.
