POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Data Management ( MDM ) provides technical and managerial expertise in the Grant Thornton data management infrastructure. The MDM will be a key component in the strategy to implement the Client Data Management efforts and help complete a strategy and implementation for Meta Data Management. The MDM is responsible for the efforts and strategy of the Data Management team and for helping to execute the vision for the future Grant Thornton Master Data Management program. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Develop functional and technical specifications related to master data management and meta-data management.
-Devise and document process flows, data standards, valid rules for master data fields.
-Manage controls around the data request process and data sourcing
-Develop, review and execute data governance standards for firm master data and meta-data
-Lead data management team efforts.
-Administrate performance reviews and define career paths for data management team members.
-Assistance with coordination and planning related to the Grant Thornton Client Data Management and other defined initiatives.
-Create, review and support procedures for data audit, validation and quality initiatives.
-Monitor and review IT data cleansing initiatives for the firm.
-Assistance with development of service levels and operational metrics of current and future data management initiatives.
-Assistance in drafting processes and procedures related to supporting the Grant Thornton Master Data Management Infrastructure.
-Define and maintain processes and documentation relative to data interfaces and feeds for the firm.
-Work as a Manager in support of the Enterprise Data Management group to support current and ongoing initiatives.
-Work directly with internal customers to support data analysis and remediation of source system data issues.
-Create an environment oriented to open communication and cohesive team effort.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
-Participate in other strategic projects as required and perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
-5+ years in overall Data Management experience.
-3+ years experience using MS SQL Server, Oracle, IBMDB2, etc.
-3+ years experience working as a technical manager
-Strong SQL development skills
-Deep understanding of relational database structures
-Exposure to data marts, data warehousing, MDM and/or meta-data tools and techniques
-Familiarity with hardware and software optimizations for master data and meta-data solutions
-Previous experience with ETL, ASG Rochade, or ERWIN or other data modeling tool a plus.
-Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Visio.
-Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
-Good interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
-Strong project level task management skills and demonstrated leadership skills.
-Good time management skills, i.e. the ability to take on delegate and prioritize several tasks.
-Ability to work additional hours as necessary.
