Associate Support Developer in Chicago, IL
POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Support Developer is a member of the Application Development and Reporting ( ADR ) division in the Internal Client Services Information Technology ( IT ) department. The purpose of the position is to maintain, enhance, and support firm business applications and systems, both built and bought. This role is served by an individual who enjoys interacting with customers, can quickly get to the root of issues, and who prefers to work on a wide variety of tasks and assignments. This position is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Serve as primary point of contact for all application support and maintenance needs as escalated by functional support persons.
-Maintain and enhance existing business applications ( built or bought ) as identified by the firm and IT management.
-Test and perform complete quality assurance evaluation on all impacted applications and systems, working in conjunction with quality assurance staff when appropriate.
-Document all application changes in accordance with team processes
-Follow prescribed change management processes and procedures.
-Maintain ownership and accountability for the issue management queue.
-Develop new Microsoft technology centric web applications as identified by firm and IT management ( .Net, ASP.Net, C#, VB.Net, VB, ASP, XML / XSLT, SQL ).
-Interact with databases as part of built or bought business systems including Microsoft SQL 2000.
-Perform full testing and QA review of all impacted business applications changed or customized prior to release to production.
-Conduct exception reporting of issues, problems and customer needs as they occur to IT management.
-Coordinate identified user technical needs with others in the ADR division and throughout the IT department.
-Participate in special projects for Internal Client Services IT as assigned by IT management.
-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
-Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
-One to four years of experience in medium- to large-sized corporate environment with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity of projects and applications.
-Previous experience in the professional services or accounting industry a plus.
-Understanding of systems development methodology and change management best practices.
-Experience with HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP, Visual Basic, VBScript, ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, Visual Basic and other technologies in the development of business applications.
-Experience interacting with SQL database systems.
-Previous experience in a dedicated support and maintenance role a plus.
-Previous experience with BizTalk, SalesLogix, Vignette, CMS and Lawson a plus.
-Ability to integrate procedural steps and processes with technical requirements and system functions to assure successful delivery of work.
-Team oriented, flexible and able to work in an ambiguous and/or changing work environment.
-Excellent written and oral communications skills.

-Strong problem solving skills.
-Strong attention to detail.
-100% in-office work arrangement required; pager not required. Occasional work in the Chicago office may be necessary. Some overtime required ( evenings / weekends ).
-Reports directly to Manager of Application Development or Development Team Lead.
-Ability to work additional hours as needed.
