POSITION SUMMARY

The Knowledge Management ( KM ) Senior Associate works in a centralized team to build Communities of Practice ( COPs ) within the KM organization in the United States The Senior Associate assists with the efforts in building and creating the methodology necessary for creating and operating COPs in the firm. The COP methodology will tie together all of the KM people, process and technology components for planning, designing, creating, deploying and operating a COP. Once the methodology is created, the Senior Associate will conduct COP training sessions to bring up as many communities as needed across service line, function, industry and geographical COPs. The Senior Associate is responsible for the overall COP organizational structure within the KM organization and technology systems. This person leads and manages the change processes necessary for the formalization of these COPs within the knowledge management organization across the firm. This person reports to the Chief Knowledge Officer.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Develop and revise deliverables associated with the design, development and management of the process for formalizing the COP organizational structure, COP building and creation processes, COP operational processes across the firm, and lead the process for change in this area.

-Deliver an overall COP Organization plan and a COP methodology with supporting tools for creating and operating COPs. This methodology will be used by all COPs that want to have a presence on the firmwide KM system.

-Implement COP Building Methodology Work with SIG knowledge managers throughout the process of planning, designing, developing, deploying and operating their COPs. The implementation might be achieved working with several communities at one time, or on an individual basis.

-Work with SIG knowledge managers to address any issues, bugs, new technical needs, etc. in future iterations of the technologies that are used for the KM system.

-Estimate time requirements for all tasks and create project work plans.

-Track progress against work plans and adjusts plans accordingly.

-Follow project processes and standards.

-Work independently when needed

-Work cooperatively with members of the KM Central team, as well as others including SIG COPs, SIG Leadership, etc.

-Perform research as needed for impact on assigned deliverables.

-Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.

-Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.

-Perform other job-related duties as necessary.
Experience: QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or other related business field

-3-5 years experience in a professional services or related business field.

-At least one year of Knowledge Management experience. KM experience across an organization or multiple communities desired.

-Knowledge of firm service lines, industries, and culture a plus.

-Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to plan, create and execute own ideas.

-High level of comfort with the ambiguity and uncertainty that comes with rapid growth and change.

-Confidence and poise. Ability to present, instruct and interact with personnel at all levels.

-Ability to effectively work with personnel at all levels and in teams, and with top level management.

-Ability to receive and act upon constructive criticism from a variety of sources.

-Proficient in understanding both the concepts and overall capabilities of many software platforms including: content management systems, collaboration/groupware systems, intranets, extranets and internet technologies.

-Business/process methodology experience internally within at least one organization.

-Ability to tie together many people, process and technology components and create methodologies.

-Strong process thinker; can create a workflow with logical steps.

-Hands-on experience and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and Web Browsers, e-mail and other personal technologies

-Strong project management, organizational skills and attention to detail

-Ability to develop and apply creative and sensible approaches to execution plans and problems/issues as they arise

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

-Ability to work additional hours as needed.
