Within the Product Management and Engineering function of ITI's (IT Infrastructure)Connectivity Services, the IP Telephony Engineer will perform hands-on technical
evaluations and certifications of new voice technologies such as VOIP, IP Telephony,
open-source PBXs, traditional PBXs and carrier-provided products and features. Identify
and recommend global solutions based on services that have been certified by the
Voice PME group and meet the business requirements of . Work with project teams
in recommending and finalizing solutions. Ientify and prioritize the requirements
for new and existing technologies and products within the areas of responsibility.
Collaborating with global engineering team and other stakeholders, establish and
maintain Product Roadmaps (6-36 months), which reflect the technology direction.
Work with vendor?s engineering and development staff to create product directions
and product lifecycle plans (i.e. product roadmaps) that are specific. Participate
in cross-technology and cross-stream forums, involving IP transport, Security, Applications
and Wintel technologies to provide voice expertise in the integration of such technologies."A minimum of five years engineering experience in the implementation, design, and/or
maintenance of voice networks utilizing Nortel products. Advanced hands on knowledge
and experience in the design, configuration and maintenance of Nortel Meridian and
CSE1000 environments.A solid background in standard voice technologies: PBX, PRI,
QSIG, Dial Plans, Codecs, Voice Features, Meridian Hardware and Software. An in
depth knowledge of IP protocols and Cisco equipment (IP addressing, Routing, OSPF,
BGP, LAN switching, QOS) and VOIP protocols (SIP, H323, RTP, SRTP). A good understanding
of Security Architectures. A good understanding of emerging presence-enabled application
and of the integrated voice-data environment (Video, Streaming Technologies, Windows
Media, Windows LCS, Directory Services, Unified Messaging). Strong verbal, written
communication and customer facing skills are mandatory. Strong technical leadership
is required combined with the ability and flexibility to work with a global team.
Individual should posses excellent interpersonal skills be self-motivated and have
the ability to work with minimal supervision.
