Network Engineer in Chicago, IL
My client, a downtown trading firm, seeks a Cisco Network Engineer to join their team on a full- time basis. The Cisco network engineer will be part of a team that works with software engineers and traders to satisfy the high-availability electronic trading infrastructure needs. They will be responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting installations of network equipment, as well as designing, installing, and supporting the routing, switching, and security/VPN technologies in the WAN/LAN environments. They will be working with vendors to resolve network-related issues as well as carrying out high-level analysis and trouble-shooting of the network infrastructure.
Experience: Qualified candidates will have 3+ years in a technical networking environment.
Experience with designing, configuring, and troubleshooting complex network backbones is a requirement, as well as experience in IGP and BGP routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, and RIP) in a Cisco environment, experience in VLAN technology, VTP and STP protocols. experience in Access Control Lists, Cisco firewalls, VPN, and other security technologies are also a must.
Solid understanding of Cisco 2600, 2800, 3600 routers and 3550, 3560 switches is required, while experience with Cisco 7200, 7600 routers and 6500 switches is a plus.
