Position Details:

Job Title: MySql DBA
Job Duration: 6+ months extendible
Location: Chicago, IL

Fulltime / W2: Mastech Inc.

Our client is looking for a MySQL DBA with at least 2 years of recent experience in a Linux/Unix environment.

Responsibilities would include:

. Performing physical database changes.
. Performing Installations, Configuration Changes, Clustering, Replication, Version Upgrades, Physical Layout support and Capacity analysis
. Performance tuning
. Develops strategies for Archival and purging
. Database backup and recovery
. Database utility strategies.
. Tuning database and SQL queries
. Ensure database software versions are maintained, service packs applied
. Investigate, recommend or write tools & scripts to support the design and implementation of databases
. Provide technical advice and support to application developers.
. Monitor database performance, determines and implements appropriate adjustments as required.

Skills Required:

. Bachelor's degree in computer science, specialized computer systems training or equivalent experience.
. Minimum of two years My SQL database administration experience and at least five years IT experience.
. Strong knowledge of database products on distributed systems (Unix and Wintel).
. Strong performance tuning and optimization skills are a plus.
. Strong relational database background and SQL (Structured Query Language).
. Knowledgeable and skilled in system software and hardware.
. Good oral and written communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
. Experience with ecommerce applications in Java/tomcat environment

Compensation and other relevant details:

1. We are looking only for people willing to join us directly as W2 employees.
2. W2 salaried with full benefits or W2 hourly all-inclusive rates.
3. Prefer Local candidates but W2 salaried employees may also receive relocation assistance.
